Does society need heros?

Define Hero. :o
Some people consider a guy who died in a mine a hero, but what is so heroic about dying...we all do it eventually.

Quite frankly I think "heroes" are just a luxery not a necessity. People don't have to be inspired by others, they can do it themselves. We like to set a standard for ourselves based on what somebody else has accomplished and we try to strive higher. Also inspirations don't last, they're a trend. Look how temporarily people were inspired by the "heroes" of 9-11, now you barely hear about them with the exception of november 11th day.

All I can say is that I need heroes.

When I watch the news and see something about someone saving someone else's life, it gives me hope for humanity.

If I hear a story about folks trying to save endagered species it lifts my heart.

Knowing Stan Lee was able to make a livelihood doing something he loved helps me work toward my own future.

future heros need role models on how to cope before they are ready to be the hero. it's like an aprentiship of morality and skill. be they heros of thought and/or action. some heroism is rare and hard to find a role model for.
