Keep in mind that Cursed Child was written by Jack Thorne and only based on a story by JK Rowling. I dont know how much of the bad stuff was from Rowling's story, but the dialogue and characters in that play dont feel anything like Rowling's writing imo. The whole thing reads like some ****** fanfiction play that should be playing in a community arts theater. It sure as **** doesnt belong on Broadway or in the Harry Potter canon.

Im pretty sure WB purchased the option to do Cursed Child as a film. If they ever do a film based on the story Rowling may release her original story in book form.

I think an article said that WB hired a company that makes trailers to edit the movie instead of actually trusting the editor that Ayer had. One of the early reviews did say that the first act is paced similar to a movie trailer or music video.

Ayer did his own cut and WB did their own separate cut with the help of a trailer production company. WB screened both versions to audiences in Northern California and surprise surprise the studio chose to release their version and not Ayer's.
