The owner and production company of Bond is EON. Sony and MGM are just the distributors so I dont know how much credit I woud give Sony for these past four Bond films.

And considering Tom ****ing Rothman and Amy "Its Five O'clock Somewhere" Pascal are at Sony its probably best that the Bond franchise keeps as far away as possible from that burning house of cards.

Sony are important to these last few Bond films inasmuch as they pay for roughly 60% of the budget of each film. EON's had a great deal with them all things considered.

Another studio can and will give them money, but I doubt another studio will give them as good a deal as what they got with Sony. Sony pays more than half the budget of these films and gets a relatively small amount of the profits. The financial feedom they afforded EON benefited a lot their creative decisions.
