Horror Doug Liman to direct Stephen King’s The Stand

I like her, but I'm not sure I like her for Fran.

I like the idea of JGL for Nick, I actually really like that. I think also I imagined Lloyd as Sam Rockwell.

But the one now that still stumps me is Harold. No I don't think the Superbad kid would be good. Not threatening enough, he has to evolve into a much more hatred filled person, until his last moments.

I think I'll leave Harold to an unknown. I really cant think of a single actor for him.

Good point, and that probably would be best, I just could not think of any.

Carey Mulligan as Fran is inspired.

And the more I think about it, the more I see Guy Pearce as Flagg.

Robert Knepper needs to be a candidate for Trashcan Man.

I could see Jackie Earle Haley and Rhys Ifans in that role too. Jeffrey DeMunn would do great as Glen.

Sharlto Copley as Trashcan Man

What about Christopher Mintz-Plasse for Harold? He played a pretty convincing nerd turned villain in Kick-Ass.

I'm not convinced he has the chops for this. I'd have to pass.

I'm going to go ahead and throw Jeremy Renner's name in the ring for Lloyd.

Sabara for Harold is actually a pretty damn good choice.

Another not really major role, but I'm thinking Scout Taylor Compton for Julie Lawry. I dont know why, I just always imagined her in that role when I was reading the novel.

Lincoln Tunnel scene definitely needs to happen.

I haven't cracked a copy in years, but I'm fairly positive that when Dayna Jurgens met Flagg, she was surprised that he was her age. Am I imagining that, or was there more to it than that? Because Dayna was in her early twenties, but I remember every bit of possible casting for various versions that were almost made before the Miniseries as well as suggestions from King himself before that time referred to older actors.

Was this just a case of "I know he's supposed to be young, but we have to cast older to get a good enough actor" or was my memory completely wrong?

Personally, I would love if they had a relatively young Flagg who was a complete unknown.

Eh I think she was more surprised of his voice, and how he was not some devil screaming and yelling. I just re-read the book last month, and I think it was more of his voice, and the face was not as "evil" as she imagined it would be. I think that is what surprised her more, not just his age.

Primo reason why The Stand deserves a good adaptation.

The miniseries doesn't look appealing judging from the trailer, but I should give it a shot one day.
Also we need a new update for the movie like asap!

After seeing what they've done with Game of Thrones and True Blood, I kinda would rather see this on HBO as miniseries than a likely two hour movie.

I was just thinking... It's kind of a shame he's not a good ten years older, because wouldn't Joseph Gordon Levitt be great for Randall Flagg?
