I lost respect when he compared slavery to Obamacare. You can think Obamacare is a terrible idea, but to say it's the worst thing in the United States since slavery, you're out of your ****ing mind.

I have only heard of Dr. Ben Carson recently so I am not fully familiar with him. But after watching the first video you posted (prayer breakfast) I thought what he said in the beginning was amusing.

“It is not my intention to offend anyone, I have discovered however in recent years that it's very difficult to speak to a very large group of people these day and not offend someone..And there are People that walk around with their feelings on their shoulders waiting for you to say something “AH-HA! Did you hear that?!” And they can’t hear anything else you say, the PC police are out in force at All time”

- Dr. Ben Carson

Yeah. I don't like this guy. He doesn't strike me as the type who had to struggle in the American system and claw his way up out of it to make something of himself. Seems quite the opposite to me.

It's not that he's offending people, it's that he's saying stupid **** and people are calling him out on it. It's not being the PC Police when he's being called out when he's dead wrong on things like evolution or when trying to compare a stupid law to the vile institution of slavery.

Please let him run for President, along with Herman Cain, Santorum, all the crazies. It's so much fun to watch

There comes a point where there is so much stupid going on to the point where it's more aggravating than fun.

He was the first person to separate conjoined twins at the head!? :wow:

I live in a strange world where hiccups overshadow mountains..

Ya by the end of it all the stupidity just makes you want to bury your head in the ground. But the gaffe potential is just so good

His autobiography, Gifted Hands, was a best seller decade or so when it came out and has even been made into a movie with Cuba Gooding Jr. He grew up in dire circumstances..single mother household in poor area...to become one of the most well-known neurosurgeons in the world, first to separate conjoined twins. His upbringing under his mother's faith and strict discipline clearly had a great impact on his character. He now heads up John Hopkins program.

Now that he's entered the political arena past with no political experience, he's become an intriguing political personality. Of course, someone with those convictions is going to get ruthlessly attacked...and efforts to make one or few controversial statements overshadow his brilliance, record, and points that he's making is upsetting, but expected.

I don't know if he will run...but I don't think he's going to be nominee,...I don't think he's corrupt, power hungry, or cutthroat enough to be a major party Presidential nominee..although I guess you never know. His job is just to remind the GOP what they should be standing for, which is good enough for me. Maybe Surgeon General is in his future? He could give that position some real clout.

 Why do you say this? He grew up under a poor single mother who couldn't even read....he didn't live life of say Mitt Romney or even a Barack Obama who had wealthy, well-connected family members raising them. Dr. Carson's success is a testament to his own mother's character as much as his own.

"The boy, once called dummy, graduated from Yale, attended medical school at the University of Michigan, and at age 33 became the youngest major division director at the John Hopkins medical institution"

Lol :hehe:

I think he has a pretty good head on his shoulders and generally promotes good ideas.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if most around here didn't like him.

Yeah, something about a man comparing healthcare reform to slavery, and homosexuality to pedophilia and bestiality just puts people off around here. There must be something wrong with us.

A small tree can grow big and tall and produce a great amount of fruit, feeding many people, but a falling twig on someones head will be its downfall

“Everyone in the world is worth being nice to. Because God never creates inferior human beings, each person deserves respect and dignity.” - Dr. Ben Carson

^Why would a twig falling on someone's head cause the downfall of its tree?

Because people are stupid and vengeful.

Cause any tree that dares assault me is getting the chop!:cmad:

Totally looking for an actual answer to this....

Were Obama's grandparents actually "wealthy"? And even if so... Really on the level of the Romney or other politicians? Cuz... That just sounds like something someone made up, to me. I am willing to be proven wrong though. Any body got answers here? Cuz it never sounded to me like his grandparents were "wealthy" by any stretch. Can we get a source for that?

I can't find anything on this wealth, but they may have been middle class which is a pretty wide income margin. So possibly well off or comfortable but I don't see anything about them being millionaires.
