Is this necessary at all? I can't imagine that being comfortable to use. I wish all this ingenuity or whatever would focus on making a DSi virtual console instead.

I see no real point in this decision by Nintendo.
It´s like they are trying to fight the Go, by releasing a new DSi.
But it´s totally unnecessary.

won't all the games look stretched out and crappy on that giant?

I dont get it. I thought they already had a big DS, the original and then they shrunk it with the Lite. Dont people want smaller handhelds?

That's what I was thinking. But apparently this is for old people, with bad eye sight, who don't play games.

Nintendo basically makes **** for the sake of making ****. Microsoft and Sony tend to be more "this is guaranteed to be a moneymaker."

And for others to watch you apparently.

Yeah...

the sad thing is this will probably result in a DS sales increase

The classic DS wasn't as big as this, and was also thicker than the Lite. That thickness make it uncomfortable. From what I've heard, while this will be wider, it won't be any thicker than the Lite or DSi.

Since I don't have a DSi, I wouldn't mind having this. But I want to see it in action first.

This will probably be the DS equivalent of the GBA Micro.

So do you guys prefer and recommend the DSI or the DS Lite, which would you recommended getting for someone who would just use it for games.

I haven't used the DSI. It does have slightly larger screens, but the Lite's are cheaper (I picked up a new one for less than $90). If you don't need a camera and a slot for a memory stick to play mp3's, go for the Lite. If you decide you want all that later, you can choose between the DSI and the XL when it comes out.

It entirely depends on if you would want to play GBA games.
The DSi store has potential, but as of now it's pretty useless.

I went from the DS Fat to the DSi, and I like it. I'm holding out hope for some kind of Virtual Console for it.

If you have an original DS, get a DSi. Though I've heard from people that have a Lite and DSi that they like the buttons and d-pad of the DSi better.

Yeah, they have more of a click feeling. The volume control is also much better then the slider from the older DS.

I haven't touched my DS fat since I bought my DSi. But I've recently started using Pal Park in Pokemon Platinum, so I need to use my DS fat. And oh my god is it night day between the two.

I was playing for a few hours using the Duel Slot thing in Platinum, and then I switched back to my DSi and the screen was huge all of a sudden. I never noticed how much of a difference it was, not to mention how much brighter and more vibrant it is.

Silly DS Fat. It's also really uncomfortable to use.

Are the DSI screens any bigger the the Lite screens? I know the Lite screens were much bigger and brighter than the Fat screens.

Well no wonder those DSI screen protectors I accidentally ordered wouldn't fit on my Lite. :p

Hmm. I see, I'll take your thoughts into consideration.

If you want a DSi, Dell's website has had it for sale a few times. Check slickdeals.net often if you really want it.

Screen Size
DSi: 3.25 inch
DS Lite: 3.0 inch

Also the main menu for the DS Fat is atrocious compared to the DSi. I don't know what the DS Lite's menu is like.

I think the DS Lite has the same menu style as the DS fat.

I got the Mario DSi bundle that came with some pre-loaded DSi ware. It's like night and day between my DS phat and DSi.
