Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.”

The new series will star the same beloved characters as the old: Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Launchpad McQuack, Donald Duck, Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell, Poe, Ma Beagle, the Beagle Boys, Mrs. Beakley, and Webbigail Vanderquack."

Love how DD was a fine parody of comic book conventions during a time when there were very few comic book movies. Now, there are so many ripe, oozing targets out there, DD is sorely missed.

I watched the movie again for the first time in I don't know how long a few months ago and this is some interesting news, depending on how they are going forth. Original art style? Modernized world? Who will be voice acting, etc.

Most of the original cast is still intact, but June Foray and Alan Young are pushing 96 each. I would say get an actual Scottish actor for Scrooge but part of the charm is that the accent is so hyper exaggerated.

That's actually what I was thinking too. I was thinking of TaleSpin, and the fact that the setting of the show was deliberately one of a technology level similar to a dieselpunkish 1940s, which played a huge role in how the stories played out.

I wonder if the "boys own" kind of adventures of Duck Tales would be even possible if set in today's world, where we have advanced computers, GPS, drones, smartphones, etc., or whether they would have to deliberately place it in like an animal version of the 1940s, 1950s or 1970s.

I loved Ducktales, but I'm more hopeful that this may lead to a revival of other franchises like Darkwing Duck.

No crashing airplanes, that's too scary. No dangerous wild animals too. No gangs, you can't have that either. Also, no diving into pools of gold coins, you're promoting 1% capitalism there. No witches, that's occult. No Bubba Duck, that's taking a stand on evolution.
