Sci-Fi Dune: Prophecy

I think the likelyhood is the result is what causes the Sisterhood to start switching to the water of live instead of the rossack drug for the Agony. That is the type of thing they liked to do in the prequel books. Just laughing because that is kind of how you do make a Navigator.
Oh Ok :)
Myself also knowing how they do it I didn't get the joke and took it as a serious possibility.

FACE DANCER!!!!!!!

This episode was much more what I was expecting from the series, the ol political intrigue of the Imperial Court and the Landsraad. (Caught the House Vernius mention, lol, good ol Ix) I am liking the build up they did to the Reverend Mothers getting whispers of Other Voice, after they have shown the Agony twice now.

So Hart is definitely a Tleilaxu creation. I do wonder how much we are going to rush into the Tleilaxu, and if that is some of what they talked to Villenueve about.

Wow. WTH did I just watch? Even reading that spoiler was just gibberish. So if you haven't read the books you're just lost? :(

In theory, it may be a bit of a preview of Dune 3. But who knows, we will see what is actually going on with Hart. And we will see how much they explain.

So, I also have no idea what was happening towards the end of the episode either and I know there's a lot of lore stuff that I'm missing and will need to research immediately once this season is finished but overall, I still thought this was another great episode.

Last week's episode was good, too but this episode definitely brought some momentum back as far as the pacing of the show goes. Once again, I'm still loving all the worldbuilding and political intrigue and Travis Fimmel is just awesome in this role.

Desmond Hart really feels like a formidable and genuine threat in this show, and we still don't know much about him yet. I'm honestly kind of hoping we don't get a ton of answers regarding his character, but if we do, I won't complain either.

Also, Mark Addy as a Harkonnen is just perfect casting.

Kind of laughing this show dives in the real WEIRD **** of the Dune universe.

Are they mixing up Ghola and Face Dancer all together (ridiculous) and suggesting Mother Superior/The BG using a Tleilaxu Face Dancer (more ridiculous) ?
Anyways, much better episode than n°3.
The show use Dune vocabulary, I like that, but wrongly : there was no Kanly (formal declaration of war between two Houses with precise rules) between Houses Rechese and Corino.

What was not comprehensible ? I can spoile you if you want.
Note that the show draw more from Hebert's son & Co books than what he wrote himself.

The Tleilaxu are people that were somehow spared by the Butlerian Jihad/War vs machines.
They are expert in providing organs replacement and creating custom beings and also Face Dancers that can take the shape of other people.
They are very secretive people and are despised by everyone but their services are used by many.

So both the face dancer and Hart are "custom " beings? But Hart got swallowed by a worm. I thought his powers were more like some kind of major spice overload. As far as the face dancer goes, was that the Black girl she brought along, or someone else? I got confused because it looked like the dead brother. It was hard for me to recognize the shifting faces. :(

Mixing together, I don't think so. Sister Theo is an early Face Dancer clearly. And honestly, that is an interesting twist in how the Bene Gesserit are experts in seeing Face Dancers. Hart is likely a ghola, which has been a strong possibility from the start. Likely modified. It is a lot more Tleilaxu than I expected though.

So I've finally caught up and boy was I a bit wrong with my guesses.
I thought episodes 3 and 4 were definitely improvements over the first 2, I really liked 3 though 4 was by far the best so far especially in showing the manipulations taking place by everyone, this is the way the Duniverse should be.

Now as to what the heck is going on with Hart...I really don't know. After so many times of them name dropping Vorian I'm guessing he may be showing up at some point. It's possible Hart is one of Agamemnon's children. They are technically who killed Griffin not Vorian and they were destroyed by a sandworm, I believe swallowed. I can't imagine them going that route, though they are doing things in the show I didn't think they would do so anythings possible.
And for now I'm going with the eyes being Leto not Paul, the "God is watching" line did it for me.

I will say that face dancer reveal was a shock and surprise in a great way for a Dune nerd, yet at the same time extremely puzzling.

Yes, Theo the sister with Valya was the face dancer, she showed herself to Valya as her brother to let her give him a goodbye and to let her know she would do whatever she wanted going forward.
It was confusing to me initially too.

I do think I need to binge a rewatch. Maybe watching them together would be less jarring. It's finding the time that's the trouble, lol. I'm buried in shows.

I watched 2,3 and 4 together and I'm glad I did.

Has anyone looked at streaming numbers yet for this? Im curious how it's doing.

We are getting into the WEIRD Dune **** now, so don't feel too bad.

We don't know yet if Hart is a Tleilaxu creation or not but apparently chances are he is.
The Face Dancer is a Tleilaxu creation for sure, that is one of the their major achievement but in the original books, they use them for their own purpose, they are not for sale.
Spice overload should not grant this kind of power, at least it is not a thing in the original books.
Yes, the black Sister is a Face Dancer.
In the books, Tleilaxu custom beings can be everything a customer could need such as sex slave, twisted Mentat (like Piter DeVriss), Suk Doctor with no moral code, philosopher, clerk, baffoon you name it.
Edit : if you have time, read the original books, they include a dictionary and appendix explaining many things.
It is one of the best scifi series after all :)

I read the first 3 or so but that was 30 years ago now, lol. I don't remember them. I did add them and the school series to my wish list. If they come on sale for Kindle I'll grab them for sure.

Instead of F.Herbert's son books, if you feel hardcore, I would suggest to get The Dune Encylodepia (approved by F.Herbert), you can still get a copy on Amazon I think.

Not crazy about those kinds of books. I'd rather read the stories themselves.

Fair enought.
Myself, I consider Brian Herbert & Co books as fan fiction.
I've read some long running series taken over by others that are quite good. Girl with the Dragon tattoo for one.

Its an extremely mixed bag. Brian taking over for his father makes sense, he even worked on a few books with Frank. I will never really understand how Kevin J Anderson became his partner.

The House trilogy, the first books they did, were bad.
The Jihad trilogy was better, imo.
There was no way anyone was going to do Dune 7 after 30 years of anticipation. Much like Episode 1.
I actually liked the two Heros books I read, Paul and Winds. I really wanted their Irulan book before they made it very different.
Haven't read the schools trilogy. Doesn't sound like something I would be thrilled with, but the show is making me reconsider it.
