Sci-Fi Dune

They're hiding Piter. I think he's the only character in the movie we didn't see yet. Even Jamis got in the frame.

I think the reason they didn't give us much of opposing forces (the Emperor and Harkonnens) is because they didn't want to overcrowd the promo. It's already was quite busy. They just focused on Atreides and their goals. No spice, no detail on political intrigue. I think future promos might focus on opposition.

IMHO this is more like a teaser trailer we would've gotten in the spring if not for the pandemic. Not a final trailer for a movie that's technically supposed to be out in 3 months.

Rewatching the trailer over and over. I'll be absolutely crushed if we don't get part 2. The cast is just so good.

As I recall, Legendary also has the TV rights. There's always a chance there could new TV material somewhere down the line as well.

Search sand worm on twitter. See that everyone thinks the design in the movie looks like a butthole.

Its a worm that moves through sand passing spice and sand through its body as it goes. It has no need for mandibles or lips.

I don't know what people expected the thing to look like, that's what most artwork depict it as.

This cast and director Q&A (with renowned super fan Stephen Colbert) debuted on Twitter just prior to the release of the trailer.

The interviews are pretty light on details, but there's some new footage not seen in the trailer as well as lots of behind-the-scenes coverage. Plus, it's always fun to watch Stephen nerd out

I knew Colbert was a HUGE Lord of the Rings nerd, I didn’t know he was all into Dune too.

Not going to post them here, but DisPops on Instagram has photos of the Funko pops, including Baron Harkonnen.

I think the fibres/baleen the worms have instead of teeth or a beak is what's turning people off. It's an interesting creature design choice, because it makes the worms more plantlike or whalelike.

Frank had artwork of the sandworm hanging in his living room. Afaik it was Frank's preferred depiction of the worms and it didn't have teeth or a beak. Just a wide open black hole for a mouth. Im pretty sure this is by the same artist and it shows fibres.

Personally I think the fibers of the 2020 sandworms make it look more like an iris and pupil.

I've never read the books or seen the other movie adaptation but this does look pretty impressive, the visuals are really cool. How pivotal is Oscar Isaacs character?

I mean, he's a pretty big part of the first half of the book. Definitely more important than Duncan Idaho. Not sure how the movie will be.

Game of Thrones I'd say is pretty on par with this.
I think they began spending real money on last 3-4 seasons, when they established themselves as world wide phenomenon. It was great production in comparison to other TV shows, especially fantasy ones, but earlier seasons show that they didn't have unlimited budget at that time.

Well I think my point is, you can do really high concept ambitious stuff on TV these days, even if it's not a Game of Thrones budget.
