Sci-Fi Dune

First I thought, why they attach a trailer for Warner with a Disney movie.
But then again, Openneheimer (though Universal) got a trailer with Avatar 2

Oh my - new kink has arrived.

Remember when I mentioned the May 2nd rumor instead of today? Me neither. Looks great though! :D

I’ve never read the novel or seen the original film. And I still need to get around to watching Part 1.

Bro, read the books - they're amazing.

God Emperor Of Dune is top 3 novel of all time.

Let alone og Dune, Dune Messiah, and Children Of Dune.

Heretics/Chapterhouse are a little weaker, because they're setting up a lot that never got technically paid off by Frank.

They're the Force Awakens/Last Jedi without getting a proper finale ala 'Duel Of The Fates' - instead we got TROS aka Hunters & Sandworms Of Dune.

I just need that Water Of Life scene to be a mix of Fear & Loathing x Nightmare On Elm Street x Tree Of Life...

How was Part 1? I’ll add it to my watchlist on Max.

It was OK but it was stripped from almost all mysticism, the big reveal about The Guild was removed (same in Lynch version) and I didn't like how the Bene Gesserit were portayed.
It felt like a standard scifi movie, I expected more.
Visualy it was good.

I have the first book, but still haven’t actually read it. Gotta try to get that in before Part II hits.

I'm a big fan, so yes, I expected more and it didn't mean that I hated the movie.
So no Kull Wahad from me but I'm still glad it was made, maybe in part 2.
I am also a big fan of Dune. And because of that, I'm aware of how "standard fare" it's story, characters, themes, etc. are in the sci-fi realm. It's an influential book that came out 60 years ago. It's "uniqueness" has been picked bare.

Which leaves execution. And well, the last thing I'd call the craftsmanship and execution of Denis' flick is standard sci-fi fare.

Also, no mysticism? If there is one thing the movie is dripping in, it's mysticism.
