Its based on a 60 year old book. I find the concept of trailers spoiling a fairly accurate adaptation funny.

Why is it difficult to comprehend that the film is at large, or even primarily, addressed to people who haven't read the book? Different medium, different audience. A dozen of my friends watched the first film, out of whom only two read the novel and that was after they watched Part 1. That's the way things are always with any adaptation of something in different media. You don't ought to have any previous knowledge of the source material or even previous iterations, but it is expected to reach new audience. It's the whole purpose of it being made in the first place.

I'm still holding out a little hope that Denis is tricking us with the Messiah talk and this film has a late 3rd or 4th act concerning that...

...and secretly the third film roughly-announced will be Children Of Dune.

Messiah always felt more like an epilogue to DUNE and not worthy of being a full sequel/film.

Truly just want to keep on continuing this world. Give him 3-4 years to put of Children.

And then, hopefully within 7 year we'll have another director respecting Denis' world with a proper messed up and delicious adaption of GOD EMPEROR.

I think Dune Messiah will make a great film and I think a better 3rd film for Denis. It is the bookend to this part of the saga. Honestly, Children of Dune is a great place to hand the franchise off to another director. That book is so dense, it could itself be split into 2 or 3 movies depending how you do it.

Wouldn't it make more sense to re-release Dune Part One? That came out during the pandemic, and would make for good marketing for Dune Part Two.

Given the sheer amount of very, very important things they have to cover in just Dune, this is not reasonable. Messiah needs its own movie to cover what it is saying. Yeah, it is essentially part 3 of Dune, but that doesn't mean it does not need its own room to breathe.

IMHO I feel like Warner Bros. isn't hyping the film at all. Not seeing any TV spots or marketing materials anywhere. Saw more marketing out there for the Beekeeper.

Warner Bros. must truly be in dire straights and losing money hand over fist.

And it's common to have TV spots for a film that comes in 40 days? I thought they were putting them out 2-3 weeks before a movie's release, but I don't live in the US so I don't know.

They have over a month. Plus the Super Bowl, where I am sure this will get a TV spot. It will be fine

I haven't seen any TV spots but I can tell you I've seen some promos for Part Two on TikTok, which let's face it, is probably much more of an effective advertising tool these days than TV commercials.
