The Rock gave some info on the synopsis. Basically the three monsters are mutated via the company in the game and turned into aggressive kaijus against their will and Rock wants to find out why they did it and bring them to justice. His role is an "anti poaching outfit from Rwanda."

I still loved how in the video game when they reverted back to human form they were naked and they covered up their private areas and shuffled off screen .

I love the plot synopsis:

After a space station owned by the Griffin Technology Group explodes, three mysterious canisters fall to Earth— one reaches a gorilla in the San Diego Zoo, another hits a wolf in the plains of Wyoming, and the third makes contact with an alligator in the Florida Everglades. The brother-and-sister team who own the company— played by Malin Ackerman and Jake Lacy — try to cover up the gaffe by attracting the mutated creatures to their headquarters in Chicago with a giant monster magnet.

Nothing says a quiet cover-up like attracting them to a largely populated city.

I never played the original but ah, I have fond memories of Rampage: World Tour at arcades in the late 90's and playing Rampage Universal Tour on the N64 then Rampage: Total Destruction on GameCube.

Film sounds fun and I'm a fan of The Rock/Dwayne Johnson, so hell to the yeah I'll be checking this out.

I head up an anti poaching unit out of Rwanda. My best friend is a rare albino gorilla named, George. Very bad people infect George, an alligator and a wolf with a serum. All three animals grow at an unprecedented rate. Their size, speed, agility and violent aggression is off the charts. They go on a deadly rampage and want to destroy the world.
George not happy. Me not happy. When animals like you, they lick you. When they don't like you, they kill you.
I will hunt down the bad people who did this to my best friend.
And when I find them, I will not lick them.
We have the best VFX monster making team (WETA) on the planet. Our actors and crew have been working very hard to raise the monster genre bar.
