Dwayne Johnson to go on a Rampage

It's a win regarding video game flicks, trust me.

Saw it, loved it. Exactly what I wanted; giant monsters messing stuff up.

But done VERY WELL. Pacific Rim 2 was a big let down for me. This gave me exactly what I wanted. My friends and I were laughing a lot and really into all the big "Oh S---" moments. And the action at the end was top notch. I was very satisfied with the experience.

With that said, George was easily as likable a hero as Dwayne Johnson, which says a lot for the FX work. Ralph was a sadistic sob, and was just nasty to the core. And Lizzie was absolutely terrifying and really put everything else through the wringer.

I might actually want to have some decent figures of these 3.

I agree 110%! I really enjoyed this movie.. I will probably see it again soon... it’s exactly the feel good movie I want to see before going to see Infinty War.

Totally agree. I need a Hot Toys George and a Prime 1 statue.

Why did they put the fresh tomato next to the 53 %? That's a rotten, lol.

It's down to 50% with critics but more importantly it is at 80% with the audience, whose opinion I actually care about (assuming the numbers weren't gamed).

It's some dumb mindless fun with some good moments in between. I thought the opening and the scenes with the Rock and George were great. And the scene with Joe Manganiello is probably the best part of the movie. Aside from those things, this sh** was really dumb in a Godzilla 98 kind of way. The two bumbling villains in this might as well be in a Sharknado movie. And Jeffrey Dean Morgan was basically playing Negan with a suit on. As for the action, I did appreciate them showing the carnage and not shying away from the mass casualties. It's something that's missing with a lot of world ending/giant fighting movies. Overall, it's an enjoyable dumb popcorn movie that i'll probably forget in a few months.
6.5/10

It'll make its money. I've been hearing kids talk about it for days on the train or bus.

In 2005, my dad had this game called “Midway Arcade Treasures 2” for PS2 which was a collection of around 20 arcade games in one disc. There were games such as “Gauntlet II” and “Mortal Kombat II”, but one of my favorite games to play was “Rampage World Tour”. You get to play as one of three monsters and your prime objective was to destroy an entire city. My 7-year-old mind was blown... until you were defeated, your monster turns back to a human, and you realize that he was mutated and I just thought that was stupid. Now, if you went back in time to tell me that, in the future, a feature film adaptation of “Rampage” was going to be made with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the starring role, I would’ve laughed and thought that was dumber than the game itself. Lo and behold, IT IS!

I figured it would be close but closer to release I expected Rampage would come out on top, even by a little bit. It's not certain yet until the final numbers roll in but at the same time I wasn't expecting a Jumanji or even a Kong: Skull Island type of hit out of this. I even said a few weeks ago in this thread that A Quiet Place's excellent word of mouth might do some damage to Rampage.

Looks like The Rock did okay.
According to Deadline, Rampage made 34.5 million compared to
32.1 million for A Quiet PLace.

I saw this yesterday, I thought it was really good! These Kaiju movies (I don't know if this quite counts as a Kaiju movie, but close enough, lol) are becoming some of my favorite movies in recent years. Godzilla, Skull Island, the Pacific Rim movies, and now this. It's amazing that they are able to pull them off so well, it's a great revival of the genre.

I thought they did a really good job giving George a personality and making him a character. His relationship with Dwayne Johnson's character was a lot of fun. I also enjoyed how the movie didn't over-explain everything or try to make it "serious business". It kind of embraced the corniness, it reminded me a lot of Kong: Skull Island.

If I had to make a complaint, I'd say the movie was little predictable. There were several times I could tell exactly what was going to happen, I thought it kind of relied on a few too many tropes. Also, I thought Dwayne Johnson's character[BLACKOUT] reviving from the gun wound so quickly [/BLACKOUT]felt a little...contrived? These definitely aren't complaints that bring down the movie too much (it's kind of the type of movie that you can ignore these things), just worth mentioning.

Overall I really enjoyed the experience, I would definitely recommend it if you want to see some big creatures smash up a city, or if you just want some lighthearted popcorn fun.

nice little blink and you miss it but the RAMPAGE arcade machine is in the office of the genetics company off to the side. and I like that Claire wears a red dress in one scene just like a certain unknown female in the game ;).

there is a girl in a red dress who gets plucked out of a building and eaten by George Lizzy or Ralph

lol @ Jeffrey Dean Morgan playing less dickish Negan and Malin Akerman playing the "evil CEO" like some Captain Planet villain.

I thought Malin was awesome as her nice and evil a real zero F's given type of character and she looked good :hrt:

Somehow to me it feels that Dwayne Johnson is playing himself in all his movies, he cant seem to shake his larger than life personality unlike former action stars like Stallone and Schwarzenegger who can actually be believable in their roles.

I wouldn't say Stallone and Schwarzenegger are masters of range.

Stallone can change it up at times (Rocky, Tango and Cash) but for the most part he's on the John Rambo setting.
