Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Will Go Faster

Bump....Who else is hitting up the show next week?

This comes out the same day as Due Date here. I'm so double billing it.

The trailer reminded me of a grittier version of Walking Tall. This might as well have been the sequel.

This has a muscle car and guns, thus I will see it. Also, Dwayne Johnson is a cool guy.

Eh, I'll probably wait for the dvd unless word of mouf is strong.

Has anyone seen this? Comes out this weekend and wonder if it's just another payback movie with nothing really new to add to the genre.

Looking at him here, I think he'd be an obvious choice to play Jonah Lomu (for any rugby union fans here :woot:).
Not that Jonah should get a movie, but.... well.... if he did....

*cough*

Anyway - Guns, fighting, Johnson - will wait for dvd but I'll definitely watch it at some point.

My Faster Review

It was a straightforward revenge flick but suffers from bad or no dialogue. You can tell the director didnt want The Rock to have a lot of lines to say maybe trying to keep it PC but that is a total shame. The action scenes was decent some of which you saw in the trailer (the trailer basically spoiled everything in terms of action scenes) but was never shown in the movie. This had the potential to become the next Taken or Man on Fire but dropped the ball.

6/10

I don't think ANYONE had any expectations of it being on par with either of those films quite frankly. Certainly not Man On Fire, that's for damn sure!

I didnt say it was my expectations, I said it had potential of one of those films after seeing the film. There was a lot of scenes that could of been done wayy better.

I saw this last week, it was really bad. The script/story was practically non-existent, Thornton and Gugino were clearly collecting a pay-day and Dwayne was horrible. I actually like him as an actor and would love to see a good script/director pick him up for a project, but here his dialogue was scarce and whenever he opened his mouth a cliché rolled out. Add a generic British hitman, poorly executed action sequences (there's a point mid-way where there threatens to be an exciting Bourne-like fight in a bathroom which turns into [BLACKOUT]two or three punches, blocks and a stabbing complete with the staple "tell my son I'm sorry" final words[/BLACKOUT]) and a convoluted ending and it's really not worth your 90 minutes.

This isn't supposed to be an action movie a la Taken or Man on Fire. It's more like some kind of modern day acid western. Think a modern day Seraphim Falls.

you know what? im gonna take it back. After hearing the spill.com review I changed my mind about the film. They had some great points about the film, while it isn't your Taken or Man on Fire, its a great exploitative film. All the scenes show that the director indeed made a old school exploitative film that many directors recent can't quite do. The movie took a fine line between not taking it serious and making it real and gritty. I want to change my score to 8/10

Saw it finally on DVD. Thought it was okay, I liked that they had a parallel to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, complete with theme song.

I thought Dwayne did a pretty decent job here, he didn't have a lot of lines, but he conveyed a lot of inner conflict through his face. Like the scene where

he's going to kill the preacher, you can just see him struggling with it in his head.

Not a bad flick, but I'm glad I waited for it to be on DVD.

this was a pleasant surprise, i enjoyed everything about this film. very good

yeah it wasn't bad, just watched it too. reminded me of Way of The Gun

I need to rewatch this just to make sure it still stands strong. Also somehow I feel like a great double feature would be Faster and Drive Angry.

Close, for me a perfect double feature is Faster and Drive. In fact, while Rafn's film is better, I prefer Dwayne's driver.

True, very true. I would make that a triple feature. :o
