E3 2010

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the 360 actually going up in price? I'm looking at prices for the new 360 on the net, and it's listing the new model at $299, and the Kinect bundle at $399. Then that the $199 arcade and the $299 model are seemingly on sale to get them out of stock to make way for the new models. So 360 going from $199 and $299 to $299 and $399?

On top of that, seems theres another bit of news that could possibly be bad to some (and I guess a non-event to others lol).

http://dualshockers.com/2010/06/14/xbox-360-slim-propietary-hdd/

From what I'm gathering, it appears that the new model is getting a new propietary harddrive different from the older 360's. Meaning you can't simply swap harddrives from Xbox to Xbox. It also looks like the price of the new harddrives might actually be more expensive. Now it makes more sense why MS added USB stick compatibility finally.

The reason I say it could be bad is two part. First, current owners looking to get a new Slim to replace their current one can't simply swap harddrives if they wanted. Second, because of how MS is discontinuing the old 360's and phasing them out. If they ever eventually decide they want to completely discontinue all peripherals that don't work for the new 360 and only work for the old 360's (like said harddrive), or decide they only want to make new harddrives for the newer 360, it means older owners may not see options later on from MS to upgrade their harddrives. Since 360 harddrives are made by MS and not compatible with other HD's like Sony using laptop HD's.
Arcade is going to $149 and the Elite (Is that the one after arcade) is going to $249.

Mass Effect is one series I do NOT see Microsoft letting go, unless of course it's several months to a year after the 3rd one releases and then the PS3 could get them. Then when the new ME series kicks off I could see Microsoft making sure that they get exclusive rights to that as well.

Mass Effect, IMHO almost seems like Microsofts God of War. It ain't going off the 360 anytime soon.

I COULD be wrong, but I doubt it.

Gif that's floating around of the Star Wars Kinect game...

We'll have an interview with Mass Effect chief Casey Hudson for you soon, but we wanted to give you this interesting little tidbit from the interview. Hudson says, "We're pulling in probably over a thousand variables from Mass Effect 2 into Mass Effect 3 if you're importing your save game."

It's an impressive number to be sure, but keep in mind, they're not all reality-shifting choices. For example, Mass Effect 2 is slightly different depending on what advice you give to Rebekah Petrovsky regarding her baby (remember her?). So maybe not 1,000 earth-shattering variables.

Is it weird that I remember Rebekah fighting with her brother in law about the baby?

So what do you guys think we will see with Dead Space 2 at the Sony Conference? Exclusive DLC (timed?) or maybe even a timed exclusive?

I dunno, I expect SOMETHING...I mean, we're not just going to get a continuation of the trailer and that's that. Should be interesting

Yeah there has to be something to it. Can't wait for Nin. and Sony's conferences to start. If the Wii gets cut to $150, I might get one.

i'm still thinking of getting a ps,3 so i'm waiting on those announcements to wow me. The announcement of FF13 caused me to get a 360. Fun Fact: I still haven't gotten FF13 and really don't plan to.

After Microsoft, I'm going in not expecting much from either Sony or Nintendo.

The thing is, Mass Effect is an EA property, not Microsoft, and EA is a multiplatform publisher. Mass Effect was never a Microsoft thing after EA bought Bioware, and the only reason it's been exclusive is due to some contractual arrangements that resulted from the buyout. Microsoft will not have pull over the franchise indefinitely though, and it's all a question of when their agreement with EA expires.

I know it's not a Microsoft property...but I honestly think that thinking/expecting ME to be announced on the PS3 is getting your hopes up.

Like I said, IF it happens it will probably be several months to a year after ME3 hits and then Microsoft will probably get some form of contract with Bioware for the next ME series.

Besides that....Bioware games on a Sony system just doesn't "feel" right, EA be damned.

Imagine what a coup it would be for Sony to announce not only a Mass Effect Collection at their conference, but also a timed exclusive deal for Mass Effect 3. X-Box fanboys would wet themselves with rage. :hehe:

It would be insanely crazy to alienate the current fanbase. I have both systems so it wouldn't bug me as much....

Oh, I know its borderline impossible, but its EA. They've done dumber things. :hehe:

Truth.

Oh, FYI....SpikeTV ONLY had exclusive airing of the Microsoft conference. G4 will have Nintendo's and Sony's.

Yeeeah, Microsoft is full of ****. :(

Dragon Age: Origins is on the PS3. And I would say that Star Wars: The Old Republic has a higher chance of arriving on the PS3 than the 360.

The emperor has no clothes.

I know DA: O is on the PS3...and like I said, Bioware games on the PS3 just don't seem right. Now I KNOW you're crazy if you think KotOR stands a higher chance of releasing on the PS3 over the 360, lol.

I would be shocked if that happened. I think it's within the realm of possibility though that Mass Effect 3 will have a simultaneous release on PS3 and 360, if PS3 gets ports of ME1 and ME2.

This is why every gamer needs at least two systems. Best of both worlds people. :p
