E3 2010

I just found out Kevin Butler isnt real. Here's a character that Sony created and the guy that plays him is Jerry Lambart. Did everyone know this or am I just late. i thought he was really a PR person for Sony. I didnt know he was an actor playing a role

I thought it was pretty obvious from the beginning that he was a character, and I looked it up for confirmation a few months back. I still think it's awesome that they had him live at E3 though, because as a marketing character I think he's one of the best I've seen in quite a while.

It feels as if he's been around forever (even if its only been a year) that I associate him as one of the faces of Sony along with Tretton, and Kaz Hirai. I thought he actually did work as one of the PR teama nd they threw him in their marketing campaigns

Yea he's part of a fantastic marketing campaign. Can't wait to see those psp ads. The little they showed at their conference was pretty good.

OMG I cant beleive theres actual gameplay footage of it. I did not expect to see them demo it on stage. Its good to be a PS3 owner
**** me I don't have a PS3 :csad: Twisted Metal is the SHHIITTTT!!!!

I'd say Nintendo was the winner, but Sony had a good show as well and they both just completely destroyed Microsoft and this comes from a Xbox owner.

Now that all the major conferences are over, I would rate them as such:

Microsoft D
EA C
Ubisoft F
Nintendo B
Sony B

The Sony was fricking boring, it made me think of James Cameron on the Ubisoft presser last year.

But Portal 2 on the PS3 made my day.
Hell, it was the best thing on E3 this year.
The only company that still supports Microsoft is Epic, and i bet that will over after Gears 3.
And then what?
Every year will be about Halo, Fable and Forza.....

I said it once and i say it again, Microsoft needs to fall...because that might be the only way they might open their eyes.

Now, on the bad side of the Sony press conference.
The all "kick Microsoft in the groin angle" was just pathetic.
Yes, Microsoft sucks since 2008, but c´mon....
And the all exclusive crap on the PS3...
I don´t blame Sony for wanting it, i blame EA for doing it.

But the highlight was Kevin Butler saying that, "no matter the flag we defend, all that matters are the games" (or something like this).
That is so true, i wanted to cry.

Does anyone know in PSN Home what 7 trailers we need to view to get VIP Room Access ? I got 5 but the last two are absolute *****es

Nintendo B+
EA C
Sony C (no Last Guardian or KH3)
Ubisoft C- (I like AC and Ghost Recon)
MS D

Yeah, as an owner of Xbox 360 I didn't see anything in particular that got me really excited, and that includes Kinect. Nintendo wins their presentation over M$ & Sony.

I think Microsoft forcing Valve to charge for content wasn't making them very happy. With Sony allowing them to use steamwork as a separate entity, they will be able to do stuff on the fly and most likely give Playstation 3 users additional content and updates more frequently without charging (X) amount of dollars.

Nintendo- A
Sony- B+
EA- B
Ubisoft- C-
Microsoft- D (Halo, Gears, Metal Gear & COD: BO kept it from a F)

I just watched Nintendo's again. Wow that was quite the conference, it delivered everything you could ask for, the only downside was that Miyamoto's wiimote was working properly but at least they admitted that something was wrong instead of just ignoring it. I have alot of money going towards Nintendo over the next year.

Nintendo: B+ Lots of announcements and unveilings, good unveiling for the 3DS. Reggie needed to talk less, and I don't care how "epic" your sales are or how misinformed "the haters" are, so just shut up about it and show me more Metroid footage. Also, the new Zelda was disappointing, but at least they showed it.

Sony: B- Good games and some good announcements and surprises, but it was about 45 minutes too long. Like Reggie, Jack Tretton needed to talk less, and there were too many promo videos. That's not what people watch E3 for, they watch it to see new games unveiled, and see the games they know about demonstrated. It was overall a good show but it got boring and Sony needed to either cut the fat or find some more announcements to make. You could have started by showing Last Guardian.

Microsoft: D- Pretty much an epic fail. The only reason I didn't give them an F was because they showed Halo, Gears 3, and Metal Gear Rising which many people were excited to see. Kinect was an embarassment and Microsoft should be ashamed of themselves. When the biggest things you talk about during a GAME show are your console's NON-gaming functions, you've got a problem! And again, I cannot stress enough how disappointing Natal looks. It looks like Wii back before it had any good games, except even worse.

EA: B A good show all around. Lots of good games and a strong emphasis on the core gamer. Dead Space 2, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, and the pre-rendered Old Republic Trailer were sweet.

Ubisoft: D Although it was worse than Microsoft's show, I gave Microsoft a lower grade because Ubisoft's show always sucks, and I didn't expect that to change. They met my expectations by sucking as usual, whereas Microsoft dropped the ball in a really major way with their overemphasis on Kinect and the 360's non-gaming functions. Ubisoft was just plain boring with lots of shovelware, so it was a typical SNAFU for them.

Nintendo flat out dominated this years E3.

Sony was alright. I was expecting a better showing for PlayStation Move with the positive buzz it's been getting and they relied too much on montages and showing instead of showing more gameplay. Heroes on the Move was awesome. I was expecting someday to see a Jak and Ratchet team up (I even made a joke prediction on it) but I never expected Sly to be included in the mix. Gabe Newell popping up was awesome. No MediEvil 3.....again :(

Microsoft flat out bombed and embarrassed themselves.

Microsoft showed Metal Gear Rising which is easily one of the most interesting titles on the dock. Therefor I think they had the best.

This E3 sucked hard from all the big 3.

For those who work in the industry, I'm curious as to what the response has been like for the new 360 and Kinect. I talked to my manager today and he informed me there has been a lot of inquires into the preorder status of Kinect. Any of u other retail workers seen anything similar?

Metal Gear Solid: Rising will be on the PS3 as well and was mentioned during Sony's press conference.

Microsoft's conference was the worst by miles. If this weren't a family friendly website I would go into vulgar and graphic detail on how Sony and Nintendo "dominated" Microsoft at this E3.

I hope Microsoft learns from their s***fest & tries to save themeselves next year. I'm giving them one last chance.

But Sony didnt show Rising, so that doesnt count.

I actually dont think MS's conference was that bad in terms of doing what they wanted to do. I think all the anger is just the hardcore crowd once again whining, no one in any industry is better at b****ing than the hardcore gamer. If you are in the business, you'll notice there is a great deal of talk from the casual crowd towards the Kinect. MS is doing just what they set out to do, which is grab some of that market. I think Kinect will be the bigger holiday seller compared to the Move. Ill be willing to bet on that.

Now as a hardcore gamer, i thought Kinect was lame, but im not looking at it from that perspective. Im looking at it from a business side and if you are able to do the same, you might see it differently.

My only concern is will this push some of the hardcore crowd away from MS's console? I think it will depend on how Kinect is used towards hardcore games.

I agree with your grades.

But saying that Microsoft had the best for showing one multiplatform game is kinda silly.

If Kinect is priced at $150, it's going to bomb. You can't sell an EyeToy + Wii Remote hybrid at that price to the casual crowd.

Now as a hardcore gamer, i thought Kinect was lame, but im not looking at it from that perspective. Im looking at it from a business side and if you are able to do the same, you might see it differently.
I am looking at it from the business side. It looks like Kinect is going to be $150 which the casual crowd will not buy and the hardcore crowd has literally been pissed off by it.

My only concern is will this push some of the hardcore crowd away from MS's console? I think it will depend on how Kinect is used towards hardcore games.
Unlike PlayStation Move, I don't see how Kinect can be used towards hardcore games.

The new 360 is cool. I just wish they could of fit a Blu-ray into it.
