Game developers realized that sidescrolling isn't antiquated, it's just a different design choice.

My thoughts on Nintendo:

Nintendo's detractors will bash the underwhelming Zelda trailer and the party games, but the fact is, it was a simple introduction to the game play for Zelda and the party games seemed to be more of "Lets get this out of the way so we can get to the real stuff," transition. Everything after the Mii Party was pure awesome. And 3DS seems to be no exception. Nintendo had a great conference

Epic Mikey, Metroid, Golden Eye, Kirby, Donkey Kong. Nintendo has knocked it out of the park.

Donkey Kong Country Returns looks insane and choatic compared to the SNES games. Kirby has always stuck to 2D (except Air Raid) and works better in it. Epic Yarn adds some unique mechanics to it.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Besides, they added an analog stick and allow you to adjust the 3D effect. Both should prevent whining.

3D pictures and 3D trailers...they better show some actual content on the machine. It's a lot more powerful than I expected. Maybe because it's Nintendo.

I think, for the most part, Nintendo has really done a great job. I personally dont care about anything they talked about as my tastes in gaming has evolved with my age. Im more into slightly more maure story and characters not bright lights and cute creatures, but unveiling a new Zelda title, showing off Other M, having DK return are all things that i can recognize as being ace titles for a lot of ppl. It was good to see them show off the "hardcore" games as opposed to those stupid party games.

IMO Nintendo killed it at E3 this year. They did exactly what they haven't done any E3 (IMO) this entire generation. Every year they do an akward, boring, gimmick filled show, and fill it with casual games. Maybe they toss the hardcore crowd 1 or 2 games that may come out in a year or two. This year they produced several long waited for titles. What you may think of those titles, like GoldenEye not looking as good as the older one, or the weird take on Kirby, is kinda irrelavent. I think this year they gave Nintendo fans the E3 they've been asking for.

Sony's going to have a tough road ahead of it to take the E3 crown this year IMO.

Yea, i think this is the show Nintendo fans have wanted for some time. I personally think Sony failed before they got to the show, like MS. I feel Sony is going to focus on 3D and that Move controller, while not really talking about any 'hardcore' titles.

Wow, that looked really good. I figured it was a Wii title, but then he said the thing about the 3D trailer, so I wasn't sure.
