Egg to Bird

That's great. I'll have to watch that again during less sober times.

Hmm......

Umm......

WTF, but in a weird, random, funny way.

"Oh s***" :)

lol. . .okay. . .I'm going to pretend that made sense to me

There is a semi-interesting story behind the clip, that kind of explains it. But I can't be bothered right now.

Cheers. :)

For those wondering what the hell this is, allow me to explain...

For animation class, we were put into groups of three and told to make a group animation. Each person would make one segment of the short: Introduction, Conflict, Resolution.

We decided on a story: a bird's egg falls out of its nest, hatches on a forest floor (intro), wanders around and is stalked by a cat (conflict), only to be saved by its mother at the last minute (resolution).

I chose conflict as my segment, and the other two didn't disagree. The problem was, both of them wanted to do introduction. Neither wanted to do resolution. The end result was, we had two introductions, a conflict and no resolution. So at the last minute I threw in this... new ending (without consulting my team members. But hey).

Well I think the animation is better for it. Having the bird saved by its mother would've been rather predictable, and mostly likely forgetable (art quality aside).

So is the first half of the clip in a different style?

I agree, I wasn't that keen on the original ending either, but it was a group assignment, and the other two liked it.

Yeah, each sequence is completely different visually. You can even see it in the animation: the baby bird is from the second of the two introductions. I used it in mine so that there'd be some vague continuity between the segments (... and also because I thought it looked funny, especially the way he had the eyes fading in and out. I was freaked out by it, I thought it'd be funny if my cat was too :D).

laser visioned animals are always good. it's surprisingly well directed considering how you said it came together.
