Sci-Fi Electric State

Russo's AND Pratt? ugh

Jesus, I just saw that the film reportedly cost 320 million to make, that's surreal. 😯

Netflix is throwing away money like that, yet cancels most of its shows after season 1.

I was expecting much worse, to be honest. This doesn't look so bad to me. AITA? :o

I admit I laughed at the flying fridge hitting the giant bot in the head :funny:

Guys, you need to calm down a little. I saw an extended clip at NYCC (it's a longer version of the catapult scene from the trailer) and it's really good. The audience loved it. A trailer's not always reflective of the final product.

I know it's popular to hate on them now (and I've seen Cherry so I get it) but going from the trailer this looks like a little more effort was put into it than anything else they've done post-Endgame.

The Gray Man is extremely mediocre and Citadel is pure garbage and is the point where I gave up on them. But then again I wasn't a big fan of Endgame either so I started disliking them before it was cool. :oldrazz:

But I deliberately didn't comment on the trailer, because like you say it honestly looks fine and it's sci-fi so I'll probably check it out. But neither the Russos nor Netfix fill me with any confidence that this will be anything other than average at best. I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah they’re two of the most critically and financially successful films of all time that managed to pull together an entire universe of characters in a way that satisfied most fans and gave us all the big emotional payoff we asked for.

But hey. The last battle was poorly lit and that girls get it done scene made some incels angry so yeah. Total failures.

What if you didn't think their MCU movies were all that great though

I certainly wouldn't completely dismiss their MCU work personally, but I also wouldn't put the same stock in it that I'd put in a filmmaker for a universe that allows some actual creative freedom. Marvel Studios is a very producer-centric studio and for better or worse Feige played a huge part in those films being as successful, possibly the biggest. The Russos' later work pretty much confirms it.
