I swear I every time I hear this man try to be an espn analyst I just laugh. After the Giants upset The Patriots in the SB, he was trying to be funny but it was so damn lame, lol. He said something like " Like L.L Cool J's old, Mamma goona knock you out, well the Giants knocked them(NE) out.

Honestly I don't know how he got hired. I loved Michael Irvin and I can't believe he got fired.

Emmitt is painful to watch. He struggles to use correct grammar. you can tell that he's trying not to mess up.

What happened to Irvin?? I miss him on the show.

Irvin got busted for drugs at one point, that might have led to his exit

Loved watching him play, but he sucks as an analyst.

I've been contemplating making almost this exact same thread for a long time (though I'd add an extra t to his name at end ;) ). Emmitt was very good on the field but he is terrible as an analyst. I didn't make this thread because I ended up seeing on Kimmel Live where they did highlights of the dumbest things Emmitt has said so I figured people would think I made it because of that :o Honestly I noticed the first time I saw him on ESPN, they really need to have him bow out gracefully and maybe he can get a job as a running back coach or something.

    Here is the Kimmel clip

Well it could be worse, he could be still playing. Now THAT was hard to watch.

Emmit Smith is a horrible analyst - but he is better than Michael Irvin.

Emmitt is awful. This might be the worst player-to-analyst transition ever. I've seen other broadcasters 'colorfully' use language, phrases or references, but at least they managed to make coherent points. Emmitt just babbles ad nauseum, mostly repeating what someone else said, something obvious or something that makes no ****ing sense.

ESPN would be better off hiring the "Boom Goes the Dynamite" guy.

it's a known fact that no ex-cowboy has any clue what they're talking about when it comes to football analysis.

See Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer, Aikman, Irvin and Smith.

I'll take him over Steve Young, Keyshawn Johnson, and Mike Ditka any day.

    Haha, you might be right.

NFL Network is a haven for guys like Emmitt. (he actually worked for them for a little while) They studder and try to be funny, and it ends up awkward and dumb. Rod Woodson is their lord and master.
