Essential Essentials

With Chritmas rounding the corner, I thought I'd get me some Essentials, thing is I don't know where to start. I only have the first Spider-Man Essential. Which ones have you enjoyed the most? They don't neccesarily have to be #1's. I'm talking about those that had the best stories. I have no character preference.

I have all the Essential volumes, too. For me, the ones I enjoy the most are the more offbeat volumes. With titles like Spider-Man and X-Men, you can buy the disk sets (or torrent them easily enough). But, with titles, like Essential Marvel Horror that came out last Wednesday, you get some of the more hard to find comics. (I'm also real excited that Essential Man-Thing is coming out.)

Now, if I had to buy a new comic fan some Essentials, I'd probably start with the Essential X-Men books. Those classic Claremont stories still hold up very well.

They're also cheap enough that you can afford to buy some coloring pencils, too.
