Did you ever noticed that back then? i grew up for the past 34 years in the 80s and 90s as a kid and teen, i noticed that word "extreme" was used in everything.

Extreme comics, extreme sports, extreme drinks, extreme TV, extreme games, Sonic Extreme, Dorritos Extreme, Extreme Nachos from Taco Bell, Extreme clothes, extreme movies, Extreme Ghostbusters, Extreme Dinosaurs, GI Joe Extreme, extreme weather etc. well you get the idea.

The 1990s was the decade for Generation X, so eXtreme became a marketing buzzword.

EXTREME DELUXE ACTION!

I remember in the 90's watching cartoons and toy commercials and the word "extreme" was always tossed around. I can still here the advertisers voice in my head yelling "EXTREME". Oh man those were the days.

I had utility belts with 37 pouches on it. I also had straps on my thighs, arms, crotch with pouches on it.

Pouches. Pouches.

And also that weird headpiece that goes around your jaws and forehead, but has no top so your awesome long hair can flow freely.

Oh come on it's not like they tried to make the most innocuous thing extreme like Ghostbus--- WOAH!!!!

who can forget everyones favorite new X-men character from the 90's? Adam X aka X-reme

"Remember kids, always recycle.. TO THE EXTREME!!"

I believe SEGA's Sanic teh Hedgeherg embodies this era for better or worse.

Although late 80s (89), "to the extreme" pretty much remained the goto marketing strategy to 90s kids.
