Paramount Putting A New Face On Action Hit ‘Face/Off’

Paramount Pictures is giving a face lift to Face/Off, the 1997 John Woo-directed action thriller that starred John Travolta and Nicolas Cage. The studio will reboot the film, with new cast. Oren Uziel has been set to write the script, and Neal Moritz will produce and David Permut will be executive producer.

Uziel’s credits range from 22 Jump Street to The Cloverfield Paradox and Sonic the Hedgehog. Deal gives Paramount the opportunity to exploit its library, which it has done with Mission: Impossible film series and the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick.

I'll wait for the teaser trailer to give it some kind of chance but if I don't like it then I'll instantly forget about it and move on

I'm betting Sean Archer will be black or both leads will be female. If the movie is similar enough to the original then I'll be surprised if Jason Statham isn't the new Castor Troy

Face/Off is simply one of those films that is perfectly fine without a remake. Honestly. I don't see how you can make it any better.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That motto can't reign any more true than here.

Why anyone gets bothered by remakes or reboots these days honestly surprises me especially on this forum. It seems like every new reboot announcement is the film they should never touch... Surely at this point we aren't defending Face Off.

This will be an overly serious take on the material which will just make it bland. Think Total Recall. Woo's over the top directing and the two leads really gave a new depth to it. There was an ideal balance to the absurd and the serious. It's a very interesting take but this will be played so ****ing straight.

I will, the movie holds up well and even more compared to crappy cgi filled action movies today. Interesting concept too for its time.

They should do something really weird with it and have Castor and Sean just switch half their faces or switch their arms and legs. Anything to set it apart and be different so we can have another instant classic like the FLATLINERS remake.
