He scored Lost, which had the company Dharma Initiative, and felt very retro in videos. Its a perfect match.Jetsons/Incredibles/WandaVision vibes for sure. Michael Giacchino is gonna bring some of that 60's score back, I bet.
Aesthetically this is exactly what I wanted it to be.
And the new Jurassic World film coming out on July 2 which, say what you will about those movies, they do make money. They would have been better to release this in December, during the holidays. Same month as Gunn's Superman. Not a lot of breathing space for 2 Comic book films.
Doom is not going to be a lingering presence. This is our Doom story. RDJ ain't playing this character for 10 or 15 years or whatever. This is what we're getting. The price you pay to rush Doom as the big bad. For those of us that wanted that epic FF vs Doom movie, we ain't getting it. He's an Avengers villain now. I called this when we learned Doom wasn't going to be the villain of this movie and the FF were a multiverse team. I knew it would lead us to getting a Doom who would never headline a FF movie and wouldn't be connected to them at all.Cons of Doom casting:
-lazy
-reeks of desperation
Pros of Doom casting:
-people will be cheering for Doom
-you can bet they will treat the character with even MORE Reverence and nail the origin,
look and epic-ness.
-Doom will not be a one off but will be as BIG if not BIGGER than even Iron Man. I feel like the MCU will now revolve around Doom in the same way Phases 1-4 were largely centred on Stark for the most part.
-actually named Victor Von Doom
I doubt there will not be a Doom vs F4 movie in the works. One of the sequels has to include him. I doubt Feige would let that opportunity slip. Personally I don’t think it will be F4 Vs Doom more of an unlikely alliance of sortsDoom is not going to be a lingering presence. This is our Doom story. Shakman I believe someone said he confirmed he had no input on the Doom casting. More confirmation I am right IMO
I dont see this happening. RDJ singed on to be the big bad here. Marvel is playing the card now. This is getting the Doomsday branding. He isn't coming back for future FF movies. This is Doom's run. He isn't going to be a Loki like figure. Shakman didn't even have input on the casting. For the FF's archenemy. That says it all. Do we really think 70 year old RDJ in like 10 years is still doing this? If I am wrong, I am wrong. But I see which way the wind is blowing here. Feige doesn't care about letting an opportunity slip. Doom is being rushed out for a quick buck. That's all Feige and the board care about: the $$$$I doubt there will not be a Doom vs F4 movie in the works. One of the sequels has to include him. I think the difference is that Matt Shakman has been attached to Fantastic Four for almost 2 years at this point. Everything Fantastic Four related is under his purview in terms of vision and casting. So you would think the person in charge of that IP would also be involved in casting Dr. Doom, the FF's main antagonist.Playing devil’s advocate, is it really an issue that
the director didn’t cast Doom?
Weren’t T’Challa and Peter Parker cast by MCU/Russos instead of the directors of those characters respective franchises? Maybe that’s not true, but Civil War came before both their movies.
I think you have a point. With the film being called Doomsday and Doom leading both that and Secret Wars, you can’t then have him survive and be allowed to continue as a villain in smaller stories. It would be similar to Thanos going on to be the Guardians villain. After AoU, Avengers films became general MCU event films rather than just Avengers films and the ending of Secret Wars could be like Endgame, requiring some closure on the threat that caused it all.I dont see this happening. Same here. I wasn’t cheerleading it at all but now it’s here I’m pleasantly surprised.I wasn't sure about the Alternative Universe thing, but I'm digging the retro-future look.
It was amazing to see. I wanted a Reed and Sue with great chemistry and they are very much suggesting it's going to be there, plus I independently think they're both great. Hopefully this MCU power couple hangs around for many phases.Just an observation, but judging by how comfortable Pascal and Kirby seem to be with each other in these pics I see on Twitter, I think Sue & Reed are gonna be in good hands lol.
