Very tough choice...pretty much think all of those are top notch except for the Lizard.
I think Caesar is easily the most realistic looking on screen in the latest movie, though. I mean, there were many instances where was absolutely shocked while looking at the detail they created in his character.
Kong is another huge fav of mine, as is Smaug and Godzilla.
Hands down the T-Rex. Not only one of my earliest film-related memories, but an amazing CGI creation that still hold up today. Granted there is a lot of switching between the CGI and animatronics, but when the CGI is onscreen, I still always feel like I'm looking at a real dinosaur, not a CGI recreation of a dinosaur.
Gollum is easily the most memorable character, even if he perhaps isn't the visually most stunning anymore. I'd say Gollum is the only interesting character in the entire LotR-trilogy.
1) T-Rex - still holds up today and far surpasses most current CGI
2) T-1000 - ditto
3) Koba - I actually found him more impressive than Caesar
4) Hulk in Avengers - Not the most realistic CGI but still the most accurate/believable Hulk yet.
The T-1000 and the T-Rex for sure. There is a reason why those effects still hold up today. And out of the rest, Davy Jones blows them out of the water. I remember when i first found out that it wasn't prosthetics. I was in awe.
Caesar is indeed wonderfully recognized in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes but man Koba was damned great. Also for some reason, in both films Maurice looks better than pretty much any other ape.
What blows my mind about about the T-1000 is how very little of that character's scenes were accomplished with CGI, even when he's been shot dozens of times and His head and arms are hanging off his torso and flailing around. The T-1000 is always brought up as a great acheivement in CGI when really its more so a triumph of practical effects.
Easily Gollum. He isn't just some creation in a computer. Andy Serkis gives a really great performance as the character. He's way more than just some special effect, and might be the best character in the films (it is probably between him and Gandalf).
Still gotta go with Gollum on this one. If Hulk was an actual character like he is in the comics then it'd be a no brainer for me(what with him being my all time favorite fictional character and such) but alas we're not there yet.
