What is the best creation of the late Stan Winston? Is it the Terminator? T-Rex, Alien or who?

The T-800, without a doubt.

Given this is the Hype, I wonder how long until someone mentions the Penguin from Batman Returns.

I know a lot of people are going to pick Predator, Aliens and Terminator so I'll give my vote to Kothoga. I really liked that design and thought the movie was a fun modern B movie.

I picked the T-Rex just because of the nostalgia factor, and the fact that that's probably what a Tyrannosaur actually looked like. That was an impressive piece of work.

I had never heard of Kothoga until this thread, so I googled a picture of it. He looks like a Predator had sex with Harry from "Harry and the Hendersons".

The Tyrannosaur. Compared to making aliens, which are mostly imaginary and unrealistic, making a lifelike, believable animatronic robot of an actual animal that lived and walked is quite an accomplishment.

A couple of years ago, I would've given the T-800 a clear landslide over the others, but I'm going with the Iron Man suits. Not just for sheer coolness, but for practicality. How many people do you know of that have successfully pulled off a T-800 halloween costume?

-so sayeth the mastermind-

I wonder if Fat Bastard will get any recognition.

Aside from The Predator, i'd have to say his Wolfman and Creature From The Black Lagoon, both from The Monster Squad.

I'd have to say the T-800... though honorable mention goes to Edward Scissorhands.

I just think that both Aliens and Predator are so unique that any alien designs in the 90s and 00s (save for Avatar and District 9) just copy and pasted the aesthetics. I know that Alien was designed by Morbieus but still. It's iconic.

It was H.R. Giger's art that inspired the Xenomorphs.

Toss up between the Alien Queen and the Predator.

Of that group, I'd have to tie it between the T-800 Endoskeleton and the T-Rex.

Overall, I can't honestly say. The Iron Man suits were awesome, though.

definately the alien queen. Iv seen the behind the scenes stuff for aliens and my god that thing was an absolute masterpiece. It looked as frightening and amazing just sitting there on a set as it did in action in the film.

i'd say the Predator

Winston had something to do with them? I thought he was the practical effects guy. :csad:
Winston Studios does more than just practical effects. aside from effects, they also flesh out the creatures. Cameron probably had a good idea of what he wanted the Na'vi to look like, but Cameron's just one man. Winston Studios filled in the gaps that Cameron couldn't.
