Hathaway's wasn't the hooker Catwoman from the comics, either. Anne Hathaway's was the posh hired spy hacker called Selina the Cat in the Nolanverse. Her costume was based on the '60s Julie Newmar's posh gold digger Catwoman from the Dozierverse, not on the comics.
Pfeiffer's is the amnesia-stricken Selina Kyle turned whip-cracking criminal vigilante Catwoman, claiming to have nine lives, which she really doesn't, in the Burtonverse. Based on the '40s-'50s comics version that was an amnesia-stricken Selina Kyle turned cat-o-nine tails-cracking criminal Catwoman, claimed to have nine lives, which she really didn't, in "Nine Lives Has the Cat" written by Bill Finger, art by Bob Kane and Ray Burnley. Her costume was apparently based on the then current '90s Norm Breyfogle Catwoman art, particularly evident from Batman #460 (1991) "Sisters in Arms Part One: It's a Man's World" written by Alan Grant and art by Norm Breyfogle.
