Well, no, but you're missing my point. I was trying to say that just because they use the Daily Bugle doesn't mean they have to make it "whacky." USM shows us that it can be quite serious, which features a more down-to-earth Jameson who does hate Spider-Man, but to a reasonable level.

Raimi's Jameson was 616. But for Webb's universe, I think the USM version would make more sense. Jameson is toned down a lot, but the essence of his character is still there.

Considering Sony wants this series to last them a long time, DB is going to make an appearance sooner or later.

I think for someone like Felicity I couldnt see her in the Betty Brant roll because Betty feels minor and Felicity is an actress who is much more than minor imo. In the original trilogy Betty didnt get much screen time the most she got was in three and what Felicity's interview was also rules out Betty Brant

Also keep in mind that they are building a cinematic universe here, so eventually there will be room for the Daily Bugle.

They used Betty as JJJ's secretary, not the investigative reporter she later became. Betty Brant could be a crucial source of information for Peter in this series.
