Intent is the same, to curb sexual desire. What results from the surgery is irrelevant.

Tell that to a woman that's had it done to them, I'm sure they'll agree.

I've acknowledged my double-standard. I have no problems with it. Sorry if you do. I still think female circumcision is a much worse practice.

You can deal with smegma if you'd like. It stinks.

Oh, one more thing: ripping out one of my testicles wouldn't really impede my sex-life and would have no lasting effects, whereas female circumcision does. So go for it.

some people can't be bothered to wash, that's their fault and deserve infection.

The intent hasn't been the same for a very long time. For decades, at least, male circumcision has been performed because of religious reasons, because it was thought more hygienic, and/or because a father was and he just had his son treated the same as him.

And the surgery can result with the vagina SEWN SHUT, I'd call that a big ****ing difference than having the skin of the glans be drier (which is the only negative result of male circumcision).
