‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ Spinoff From ‘Cobra Kai’ Creators & Bill Posley In Works At Paramount Pictures – Deadline

EXCLUSIVE: A spinoff of the 1986 John Hughes film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is in the works at Paramount Pictures titled Sam and Victor’s Day Off from Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald. Bill Posley(***** Ass) is set to write the film.

Sam and Victor’s Day Off will follow the same-day adventure of the titular valets who took the Ferrari on a joy ride in the Matthew Broderick-starrer.

In the original film, the valet attendants were not given official names. They were played by Richard Edson and Larry “Flash” Jenkins, who died in 2019.

Paul Young (Key & Peele) is producing through his company, Make Good Content; the company’s executive Devon Young will oversee the project. Stephen Cedars, Benji Kleiman, and Scott Yacyshyn will be associate producers.

Well, I’d like to give this terrible idea a shot.

But the humor of those characters is because we DON’T know what happened lol

I mean we haven’t had a dumb buddy movie in ages. But they should make something new instead of mining the nostalgia

so, not "Ferris Bueller's day-on" where we explore an average day at school with him?

What's next? Disney making a Star Wars spin-off about that little mouse droid that's scared off by Chewbacca in A New Hope?

Just how small and inconsequential a character are production companies willing to go in order to make a half-assed spin-off to a classic?

I'm not too sure about this. An important part of why Cobra Kai worked, was because of that theory that Danny was actually the bad guy had been floating around for years. I doubt anyone was ever seriously thinking about these guys. Most people probably don't even know them. Also, didn't they already kind of do this in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle?

I mean if they go with the dumb buddy comedy like Harold & Kumar or Dude Where’s My Car, I can see it working.

See what happens when Top Gun: Maverick and Cobra Kai end up as successes?

But on the real, unnecessary. I mean, this synopsis:

The film will follow the same-day adventure of the valets who took the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder on a joy ride in the original 1986 film. Although the two parking valets went unnamed in the original, they were played by Richard Edson and Larry “Flash” Jenkins. Jenkins died in 2019.

Doesn't seem inspiring. At least Jay and Silent Bob were featured enough in Clerks that giving them their own film felt somewhat justified.

Not everything needs a remake, and especially not a spinoff.

I want to say I’d be pleasantly surprised as this is from the creators of CK and the writer for this worked on episodes of S4, but as everyone on the thread said, this isn’t necessary.

Just noticed this comment on YT watching the scene:

Dreams do come true! Unfortunately, in this case, it was the wrong one! :funny::o
