Action-Adventure Cobra Kai - (The Karate Kid Spin-Off)

Solid second part of the season. Overall I really enjoyed it, and I’m glad to see that they actually filmed scenes in Barcelona and didn’t do what I assumed they would and just show some aerial shots of the city juxtaposed with a bunch of scenes of the actors in a gym. Granted, MOST of the scenes are in a gym or the hotel but at least they did take advantage of one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

Random thoughts… (SPOILERS AHEAD)

Lewis Tan was really good here and I wish they would have allowed him to display some of that cocky attitude or fighting skill or SOMETHING in Mortal Kombat. Maybe if he acts a bit more like his character here, I won’t be rooting for him to die in MK2. Maybe.

So great to see Terry Silver return and they even did a callback to his infamous bathtub scene. I was hoping he would come back because he really feels like the ultimate villain of this series.

I got so sick of Robbie losing his ability to fight any time he… looks at Tory? Like dude, how are you this unfocused? But I have to admit I was cheering when he finally beat the pulp out of that annoying dude with the Kate Gosslin haircut.

Speaking of annoying characters, I need Robbie and Miguel and Sam to team up and take down Frankincel. I know he kind of helped them at the very end against hair guy but he was a straight-up creepy stalker towards Sam for a while there. Frankincel needs to get his ass kicked.

Chozen is such a fun character and liked him getting together with the other Cobra Kai sensei.

I don’t mind another actor playing a young Miyagi (I thought he did okay) but did we really have to go creepy deepfake Miyagi at the end? That looked horrible.

Lastly, that brawl was insane. I don’t know what will happen from here, especially with how it ended. This show always goes a little nuts at the end but I don’t know how they even have a tournament after that, especially with how it ended.

They’re definitely stretching these out where Part 1 and Part 2 could’ve been combined into 6 episodes instead of 10.

I mean,
Johnny and Miguel leaving cause Carmen had complications in childbirth only for it to be waved away once they got there? Just pointless. Sure we had a fun Rocky II callback “win!” But Johnny becoming a father should’ve been much more emotional.

Also Hawk and Demetri suspecting Kenny just for it to be handwaved and over is another just stretching things out and not knowing what to do with these characters at this point other than “drama!”

They’re also writing Samantha LaRusso as a pretty awful person lol

Look, I still love this series. And that finale in Episode 10 was great. But the show worked so well because of how well it moved. Chopping season 6 into 3 parts over 15 episodes was not a good move for the overall quality. Hopefully now that we’re into Part 3, they won’t be spinning the wheels as much.

If that was a series finale it would probably be one of the greatest endings or wtf endings.
"Cut the feed" and the show is over, I would laugh.

I know we are getting a part 3 though, not sure where they are going with it seeing that ending.

I don't understand the splitting into 3 parts from a show runner stand point. I get Netflix because they are trying to milk the fan base to subscribe the whole time. Cobra Kai was one of the best binge watching shows from its start, I remember finishing season 1 the night of its release when Youtube dropped all the episodes.

I don't think the marketing was good for this part 2 either, I didn't even know when it was coming out. I didn't see any commercials on tv or ads on Youtube or other sites. They usually promote it well.

Late to the party but I'm all caught up with Season 6 in time for the final five episodes to drop in a few weeks. Part 2 was the fun usual cheese we're used to but I thought Part 1 was boring and weak. The Part 2 cliffhanger had me dying though. I knew the show wouldn't kill off a well-known character, much less a likable one but the way it went down was unintentionally hilarious.

Also, who the hell decided on that ridiculous mohawk for Hawk this season? Not that he was ever meant to be taken all that seriously but it's so stupidly distracting whenever he's on screen. It's like playing an RPG when your custom character is in a serious cutscene.

It seems like the problem is Netflix has a binge every episode at once model, and for shows like Squid Games and Cobra Kai, it hurts them not to drip out more episodes, so they try to extend the hype. Versus if you binge a series, once it's done, it's done. And then you're stuck in withdrawal mode after a season and waiting 2 years for another one.

I'm glad I waited to watch the first two parts until closer to the last five dropping, especially since Season 6 Part 1 was a big nothing burger. But that said, I'm ready for the show to end. It's been dragged out long enough.

Working my way through the final episodes and
I think we have a new winner for worst CGI dead actor resurrection because the dream sequence Miyagi in Episode 13 is TERRIBLE.

Those last 5 episodes were really satisfying IMO and while I'm not a big fan of who they decided to bring back in episode 13 that scene between Kreese and Johnny really hit hard for me and pretty much made up for it and the episode as a whole.

That was easily some of the best acting I've seen in this show especially from Zabka and Kove and I wasn't expecting it at all which was a nice surprise.

Also, special shout out to Lewis Tan for chewing so much scenery throughout this season lol. It seemed like the guy was having way more fun here than in that awful Mortal Kombat movie from 2021.

Really satisfying ending for me. Wish we'd gotten Julie Pierce, but it wasn't meant to be.

Congrats to Tanner Buchanan and Mary Mouser who announced that they're engaged.

I'm sorry, but I hate that crap like this is becoming normalized in Hollywood now. Digital necromancy was completely unnecessary here.

We didn't get Hilary Swank so instead we get....Jessie Spano?

Minor disappointment about Julie Pierce not showing up, I thought it was a solid ending and the finale had some great acting from Zabka and Macchio. I did like the Rocky montage set to "You're the Best".

And the final showdown on the yacht between Kreese and Silver was absolutely hysterical. Did they not mention that happening at all in the final episode or did I miss that? :funny:

Overall Cobra Kai was a lot of fun but it dragged on a little too long. The final season definitely could have been trimmed down and condensed into one 10 episode season without breaking it into three parts.

First two episodes down. Jessie Spano!

Here’s a fun little question.

Do you think Johnny’s and Carmens baby will be a boy or a girl, and what do you think the name will be?

Considering that he technically already has two sons in both Robby and Miguel, I kind feel that the writers are going to make the baby a girl. It would be a nice way of bookending his arc by him having a girl and naming her after his mother, who was probably one of the most important and special people in his life. Also, it would kind of be hilarious to see him try his talking to chicks tactics on a baby girl and it not working and having to adjust and figure out the proper way to do it. :hehe:

As far as the name goes, I imagine it will be a combination of Danielle/Daniela and Laura, the first being for his rival turned friend and the second for the most important woman in this life, his mother. It would probably be something like Danielle/Daniela Laura Lawrence or Laura Danielle/Daniela Lawrence. Most likely Daniela because of the Hispanic connotations.

Bonus points if the shortening of her name is Dani. Would be sort of an affectionate jab at Daniel’s name. Johnny would never let him live that down.

Well, having just finished episode 2…

I was half right.
