Finally HC reprints of Grant & Breyfogle's Batman run

Thanks Cain, could not have said it any better.

You'll be glad to know then that those guys were the ones who really ever defined Tim. Made him an interesting enough character to follow into Chuck Dixon's Robin work. Everything from actually becoming Robin to having his mother killed & dad crippled by the Obeah Man was by these dudes.
I've actually read that Obeah Man arc already. Freaky s***. I felt bad for Tim. :csad:

Yeah we need "Tales of the Batman - Norm Breyfogle" ASAP.

Yes, Gene Colan's collections is great. Just started reading it. Glad they didn't go the Neal Adams route, with all the crosshatching and re-coloring.

So any news about Norm's collection?

He's been doing Batman Beyond for a while now, so what's the hold up?

Why is this taking so long...

You would imagine with al the collections of other runs this would be a sure thing. Would you guys like to see a collection?

I always had a softspot for this cover:

Someone mentioned it earlier, but I would bet that the heart of the problem comes with the fact that upper management has a problem with Breyfogle. He was blacklisted there for a long time, I believe, and I recall reading that he very nearly didn't get to work on the stuff he has recently. That's probably the root of it. Now that he's getting work again, maybe it's a first step.

So basically, a company doesn't want to make money. Makes sense.

It's easy to boil things down to that, but there is stuff like politics and creative policies towards blacklisted artists that lie behind the scenes. And, while Breyfogle does have respect and his fans, it's not like we're talking about Alan Moore or something. I don't think he's a writer that the DC higher ups will look at and say, "We have to reprint this, it'll sell like crazy!" It would probably sell a decent amount, but there's probably a lot of other stuff they can reprint that will sell just as much.

Don't forget Alan Grant has a decent fanbase and that the target group for this run is about 30ish. Few years from now their target group won't be buying comics anymore. They have other priorities (family, careers etc).

Oh yeah, I don't know what Alan Grant's position is with DC. I don't think he's done any work for them for a long time, though.

If they can make collections for Don Newton and Gene Colan, they will/should definitely have a collection for Norm

I grew up on these gentlemen's work, would be eternally grateful to see it reprinted!

It's been delayed to august now.
Pre-order people you do not want to miss this!

^ So how does the content of the upcoming HC collection sound to you guys? Good issues, I hope. :) I'd like to dip in, if that's the case.

This should be said... Like O'neil and Adams or Byrne and Claremont or Lee and Kirby simply one of the best duos in comic book history that delivered on simply well put together crackerjack entertaining stories. I don't think either man was interested in re-creating the wheel here or doing "edgy" groundbreaking material. What they simply did was CRAFTSMANSHIP which I think gets a bad rap these days. There's not alot of retrocontinuity BS or "everything you know is wrong" crap. There's no trying to shock readers EVERY MONTH. It's just quality work issue to issue.
