The thing that made me groan about the Thor trailer was the fish-out-water humor. I imagined there would be a scene with Thor staring at a cell phone asking "what is this mystical device that traps voices within?" Or maybe he'd run up to a car and shout "what is this roaring beast that devours humans?!"
I ended up loving the way they handled this. It seems like Thor understands Earth and humans. He just isn't totally comfortable there, that's all. The way they did it makes sense. Thor comes from a MORE advanced society than Earth, so he isn't freaked out my Earth's technology. Actually it probably seems primitive to him.
