Beyond: The RPG of Tomorrow!
Space. The final frontier. These are the voyages of... well... YOU! That's right, welcome to Beyond:The RPG of Tomorrow! This RPG is centered around a new and exciting universe that takes place in the year 9977 A.W. (A.W. means After War). This RPG was designed specifically for players to live out their wildest science fiction fantasies. Here is the basic history of Earth and the universe thus far:
Earth: It was a world full of war and wonder. A world inhabited by a young race of beings known as Man or, humans. Over the years, humans have been able to influence their surroundings in new and often dangerous and unexpected ways. Man had evolved from undersea creatures, to land mammals, to the upright beings they are today. However, Man was not yet done with evolution. Some humans began developing strange new abilities. Some used their newfound abilities to fight crime and protect the innocent. While others used their powers in more selfish ways.
Now we go to a world many, many lightyears away from Earth. This world is known as Varn. It is an incredibly dark and evil place, completely covered in a black fog that poisons any creature not native to Varn. On this planet, there lived the Varnor. The Varnor are an evil race of spectral-like beings. They have no true physical form, instead, they "possess" inanimate objects and use them to influence the physical spectrum. While the Varnor may only be able to physically harm you when they have possessed an object that would allow them to do so (a suit of armor, a sword, a gun, etc. They usually prefer cloaks and weild long, poison-tipped swords), they CAN poison or telepathically harm you.
This world was soon discovered by a Carpen (a race of beings who resemble humans but are much stronger) known as Xandir Karn. When Karn discovered this world, he is horrified, and fears that the entire universe will soon be consumed by this evil. Karn gathered many of his race and formed a resistance whose goal was to defeat the Varnor and wipe them from the face of existance. Eventually, a group of intergalactic police known as The Protectors, came and discovered planet Varn, as well as Karn's resistance. They decided to help him and gave him a weapon of incredible power, sword, which Karn used to become an increasing threat to the Varnor.
The Varnor decided that it was time to destroy their enemy, Karn, and his allies, as well as the Protectors. They attacked a freighter near Karn's homeworld. This freighter was piloted by Karn's sister, Sy. They captured Sy and took her to the surface of their homeworld where she soon succumbed to the poisonous atmosphere, and died. The Varnor then stripped her of everything but a necklace she wore, and kept her body intact. When Karn discovered the body of his beloved sister, he took the necklace (which was, as the Varnor predicted, a precious family heirloom), and traveled to the Protector headquaters of Tamriel 0, in order to enlist their aid once more.
Little did he know, a Varnor Infiltrator had hidden itself in the necklace that belonged to Karn's sister. Once Karn reached Tamriel 0, the Varnor left its hiding place and headed towards the Sword of the Gaurdian (which supplied energy to all the Protector swords throughout the universe). There, the Varnor introduced a virus which infected the Sword and, in turn, every Protector in the universe. Soon afterwards, the Protectors were destroyed by the virus which had plagued thwm, including Karn (who caught it from a female Protector he had made love to). With no one left to oppose them, the Varnor took over Tamriel 0 and rebuilt the planet in THEIR image.
Word of Tamriel 0's fall reached Earth, and the heroes left the planet to defeat the evil which they feared would eventually reach Earth. Sadly, the Varnor proved too much for the heroes of Earth, and they were beaten, unmasked, and executed.
Soon, Earth's villains made their move, and attempted a world-wide take-over. However, the villains became too greedy and began fighting each other, starting a large-scale war that destroyed many of Earth's greatest cities.
Years later, a group of powerful peace-keepers arrived on Earth and were shocked at how ravaged the planet was. These beings consisted of many races, and they formed an alliance known as the Knights of the North Star. The Knights believed that Earth's corruption would prove too much for even THEM to handle, so they allied themselves with a race of poweful beings who fought evil using psionic weapons and telekenesis. They are known as Setzers.
Soon, they wiped out the evil that had plagued Earth for so many years, and brought about a new wave of peace for the blue planet. The Knights gave them a new source of energy, the same source they used to power their weapons and armor. The Knights' technology was solar-powered by the North Star (which is a sun many times larger than ours). They developed a way to harness the power of their sun even from billions of lightyears away. With the Knights' new source of power, pollution came to a stop, and our technological advancements skyrocketed. Earth began creating space-crafts to explore the universe and discover new planets and galaxies. They soon formed an alliance with the many planets they had found, and they began calling themselves the Universal Alliance. The rest, as they say, is history.
That's the basic history of the game. Exciting isn't it? Before you can post your character application, you're going to need to learn the rules of the game first:
Rules:
1. All rules must be followed EVEN by the GM and his assistants. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
2. While you ARE allowed to create and customize your own races and classes and planets, you CANNOT customize a pre-existing race or class or planet.
3. Multiple characters will be allowed (two at first, but more may be created as the game progresses), but ONLY if you believe you are capable as playing multiple characters. If you are playing as two characters and you drop one, you may not be eligible to play as multiple characters again (unless you are dropping one character to create an entirely new one). Also, if you are playing more than two characters, and you drop out of the game completely, you may not be able to play again. Don't drop out if your characters are a large chunk of the roster. It's just ridiculous. (NOTE: Exceptions are allowed if you are dropping out due to personal reasons).
4. Do not argue with the GM or Assistant GMs when it comes to how the game is handled. You won't win.
5. Try to get along, please. This isn't a schoolyard, so please be civil.
6. All standard Hype rules apply.
7. HAVE FUN!
Well, now that you know all the rules, all that's left is to create your character. But first, you might want to take a look at the list of races, classes, and factions to choose from:
Races:
Aerians: Aerians are a curious, music-loving race who are identical to humans in appearance (however, their vocal chords are stronger than a normal human's). They live on the planet Gibson 7 which is also very similar to Earth. They have strange weapons that double as instruments (in fact, they take the shape and appearance of Earth instruments). No one really understands the Aerians' obsession with Earth music, but it is rumored that the instruments ton Earth were originally created by the Aerians.
Stats: Aerians have basically the same stats as humans, except Aerians are slightly faster and more agile than humans. Some even have superhuman vocal chords that cause massive ammounts of destruction.
Setzers: Setzers are a race of humanoid beings with pale skin and cool purple eyes (the iris, not the entire eye). They also all have jett-black hair and are very slender in appearance. The Setzers also do not have a specified name for their planet, but simply refer to it as "Home" or "Headquarters", however, the Universal Alliance refers to their planet as Syntek6. Setzers have powerful mental abilities and can create strong psionic weapons with their minds. They are led by Prince Xemnas, but do not necessarily follow his every order. The Setzers have vowed to protect the universe from evil and tyranny, and they take themselves quite seriously.
Stats: Telepathy (All Setzers have strong telepathic abilities which are used for long-range comminication, as well as communication with unknown races), Psionics (Setzers can create powerful psionic weapons with their minds), Telekenesis (Setzers have the amazing ability to move and manipulate objects with their minds)
[NOTE: The attributes listed above are for basic Setzers. Different Setzers create and specialize in their own unique ways of the mind]
Strength: Slightly less than human.
Speed/Reaction time: Speed is the same as human, however, their reaction time is greater as they have trained to focus their minds to peak perfection.
Durability/Endurance: Slightly less than human
Agility: Slightly greater than human due to their lithe bodies.
The Hume(Tera 1) They look exactly like humans except for their Hazel eyes. The are much more advanced than Humans on Earth are. They have a strong sence of justice and belive that good will eventually trumph over evil. Their greatest technological achievement is their teleportation technology. All they have to do is go into the chamber and say where they want to go. And they appear there. They use this technology to go to distant planets and try to stop conflicts like war in a peacful manner. But this does not mean they won't fight if they have too. They also use their technology to see impending doom that will occur on other planets and go warn them.
Their attributes are the same as humans but they are much smarter.
Ravagers: While their planet and race's name is unknown, what IS known about these monsters is that they use to be a scientific race until a virus that they created threw their planet into chaos(This happened a few hundred years ago.). The people who were infected are overcome with hunger for organic flesh, however they still retain their intelligence . After depleating their food supply on their planet, they discovered that they still can die of hunger. After their numbers began do dwindle, they created a ship large enough to hold all of them. They have been searching the universe for planets with life to sustain their hunger for over fifty years. To date, four planets have been desrtoyed because of this plauge. They also infect people by biting them, and are lead by their unrelenting hunger. Word about this incident has not reached our galaxy.
Strength:Much stronger than humans. Able to lift one ton.
Speed/Reaction time:Much slower than humans.
Durability/Endurance:Almost infinite. They do not feel pain or show emotion and never tire. All they feel is the hunger that overwhelms them.
Agility:Much slower than humans.
Kazarians: Kazarians are a race of cat-like people who live on the jungle world of Kazar. They do not use guns, but will use primitive weapons such as spears, staves, and daggers, however, they prefer hand-to-hand combat, and are trained from birth to fight. They aren't really a war-mongering race, but they do fight amongst each other at times. Kazarians are an honorable and noble race who basically wish to be left alone. They worship their various gods (Halln, god of war; Kearn god of wisdom; Delisle, goddess of love; and Sheree, goddess of death) and dwell in large tree cities. Their space-craft resemble large, stone temples.
Stats: Hand-to-Hand expertise, Animal Empathy (can communicate with and influence various creatures throughout the universe) Omni-linguistic (capable of learning and speaking any language upon hearing it. This was a gift from their gods), Sharp claws which are used as tools or weapons.
Strength: Capable of lifting 5 tons.
Speed/Reaction time: Above human. Can run at speeds of 95 MPH
Endurance/Durability: Slightly greater than human.
Agility: Much greater than human.
Varnor: Incredibly evil beings who take great pleasure in killing and torturing other races. They only wish to conquer and will desrtoy anything that gets in their way (including each other), and are considered by many to be the greatest evil in the universe. Their planet, Varn, is covered in a black, poisonous fog that kills anything not native to Varn. The Varn are a phantom-like race who can only influence things physically by "possessing" inanimate objects. They can also poison others and cause them harm using telepathy.
Stats: Possession (can place themselves into inanimate objects and influence the object's monement), Poison touch (poisons anyone foolish enough to touch them. This is due to their exposure to their deadly atmosphere), Telepathy (The Varnor have strong telepathic abilities which they use to communicate long ditances and inflict harm on their enemies).
Strength: Slightly less than human.
Speed/Reaction: Greater than human. The Varnor have quick movements, but do not run, rather, they fly where they need to go (unless they have possessed something that requires them to walk/run)
Endurance/Durability: The Varnor can go endless periods of time performing physical labor, however, they have slightly less durability than humans (unless they have possessed something more durable than a human)
Agility: Much greater than human.
Robots: The blanket term for artificial life forms created for a variaty of tasks. Due to several programing flukes that are still unexplained, there is a substantial minority of robots who are self aware. The only independant Robitic government is "Haven," a colony founded 100 years ago. However, the Universal Alliance does not recognise their independence. As their physical abilities are based on their design and model, Robots have no basic stats.
Neogi: A race of warriors who've conquered their entire galaxy, the Neogi are humanoid in appearance, save for their black eyes and needlepoint teeth. The Neogi are an emotion driven people and view those who try to hide their emotions as cowards or worse.
The Neogi live for battle, believing conflict brings out the truth hidden inside one's being. They have garnered a reputation for being viciously cunning soldiers who do not heed their own safety in a fight. A death in battle, especially a sacrifice that achieves victory, is the most glorious way for a Neogi soldier to die.
The Neogi Empire is separated into specific castes: Soldiers, Priests, Workers, Overlords, and the Supreme Overlord.
Soldiers are the majority group of the Empire and are comprised completely of males. Soldiers are given rank much as they are in Earthly militaries, with the top generals gaining the title of Supremor. They are some of the finest military minds in all the Empire and the ones who devise war strategies, lead the Neogi armies into battle.
The females are not allowed in the military by ancient law, but they play a more politically important role as they make up nearly 99% of the priest faction. The Neogi people are a highly religious lot and follow a small pantheon of deities who gave to them their edict: Life begins in pain, and ends in pain. In order for one to truly be alive, they must cast aside all fear and embrace the pain of life. As such, the Neogi have a number or rituals in which they inflict scars upon themselves, while showing no pain, to glorify their gods. Soldiers follow this edict more than any other caste.
Workers are comprised of two groups: the unlucky ones who are deemed unfit for soldiering or priestly work and captured slaves. The latter making up the majority of this caste with the former taking a more leadership role in the group's heirarchy.
Overlords are another more political caste, and are the regional governors of the Neogi Empire. They hold the same status of power as do the Supremors, and are answerable only to the Supreme Overlord himself.
The Supreme Overlord is the emperor of the Neogi Empire and is the only being in all the empire with supreme power in both the military and political factions. The Supreme Overlord spends most of his time dealing with affairs of state and military matters, common things to one in such a position. He is seen as the face of the empire and a direct link to the gods. Only the males can claim rights to the throne of the Neogi Empire.
One of the main pieces of Neogi technology is the full body battlesuits their soldiers wear (think Madalorian armor). These suits vary depending on rank with the suits of higher ranking individuals having more functions.
Standard Battlesuit: contains a self-sustaining environment, allowing the wearer to survive in space, underwater, and other extreme conditions; Wrist blasters can loose a myriad of different attacks (flame-thrower, plasma cannon, powerful stun ray, electrical blasts, cold beam, force blasts akin to a telekinetic attack); helmet houses many functions (visor allowing sight in many spectrums from heat to nightvision, and from micro-scopic vision to telescopic and x-ray vision, as well as data analysis of targets; transmitter able to pick up signals from around a globe; high-tech breath filters that prevent breathing of any poisonous or unfit air; contains psychic dampeners that aid in repelling mental attacks); armor is naturally sturdy being made out of the metal Zandium (extremely durable substance that is amazingly resistant to conventional attack as well as extreme environmental conditions; light in weight)
The Tanar'ri: Melee weapon of Neogi soldiers. Has a bit of divine history to it as it is said that the war god, Shimmra, created the first one from the bones of the old gods after slaying them: collapsable staff used for hand to hand combat and powered with destructive energy designed to cause extreme pain on contact by disrupting the target's neurons, cetralizing where staff connects with the target.
Shinzon Disruptor: Named after a famous historical Supremor, this is the standard blaster rifle of Neogi troops; Durable, light in weight semi-automatic rifle that fires bursts of plasma rounds with a range of 500 meters. Plasma cells that connect to butt of rifle hold 50 shots before being needed to be replaced.
Although not a power, Neogi soldiers are trained from a young age in the arts of unarmed, weaponed, and ranged weapon combat.
Strength: Same as a man
Speed/Reaction Time: Same as a man
Endurance/Durability: Much more durable than a man (Neogi are taught from birth to endure pain and can take extreme punishment)
Agility: Same as a man
