It deserves a mention. The film seems on its face to be typical dog movie, it isn't.
This movie is great, it's not what you would expect. It has a lot in common with films like "Darkman", "Robocop" and "Swamp Thing"It has all the formula workings of the "man turned monster" fare, with typical dog to the rescue plot line. It's sad but uplifting. It's harder sci-fi than "ET" yet more approachable than "Plague Dogs".
It even has the cliche' of the Man turned monster (or dog) has to leave the one he loves because he knows he is too much of a freak to have her. Like Darkman.
