You ever do any showtunes or themes? I've always wanted to some, but I seem to be the only person on the planet who wants to do so. I don't care, it could be Megaman tunes, Rocky Horror, hell, even the Duck Tales theme.

If your band has a website or Myspace and you can provide links to your band doing any showtunes or themes, please post here.

An old band of mine played a cover of the Phantom of the Opera theme, which has already been done tons of times. But it was cool. We made it a little heavier, added new parts, stuff like that. It worked well.

We never made a recording of it or played it at a show. It was more of a thing we did for fun. Maybe we would have done more with it, but we all moved on with other projects.

Blink 182 did a great version of the main theme from that.

I actually used to sing a bit, stage and stuff, if i had the balls now (or the cash to be drunk enough to have the balls) i'd join an ameteur dramatics society or a musical group or summit.

:D

Nope. The motivation or inspiration to do so never came in any of the bands I've been in.

I wish more bands would do so. I love to just hear how certain bands twist and make it Their cover.

My band does the Mr. Sfotee theme. You know you're jealous.

i've always wanted to do a rocked out version of 'kiss the girl' from the little mermaid.

I've heard some covers of Under the Sea that were great. Any of the calypso-esque songs would probably turn out well in a rock style.

I've heard a recording of Nine Inch Nails doing the Zelda theme.. that was pretty cool.

if you know of anyplace online to find free sheet music for 'kiss the gils', please let me know.

The last band I was in done a cover of "The Flash" tv show theme. We never recorded it though.

My band was gonna do a cover of "Under the sea" from Little Mermaid. but we never did :o

I tried to get my band to effectively cover the theme from Mario Bros. video game. Sadly, it never happened.

Here is a preview for the score (the rest costs like $4, which really isn't that bad IMO). It's just the intro, but it gives you an idea of the key and stuff.

I'm a big fan of showtunes, and punk and/or ska versions thereof :o.

in highschool my "band" and I played
The Imperial March (Darth Vader's music)
The Munsters theme
The music from Halloween
The Adams family theme
and the theme music from Alfred Hitchcock presents.

It was all played through without stopping and we had our own riffs that would interlude between them.

Darth Vader's music is awesome played like this...

Drop D tuning (Low E which is now D string shown only. All notes are actually chords, but I'm lazy)

4,4,4,0,7,4,0,7,4 (pick slide) 11,11,11,12,11,7,4
ect.

I would have really liked to have played a cover of Danny Elfman's theme from BATMAN. I remember in high school the school band playing Elfman's theme.
