Fox News business commentator Neil Cavuto suggested Wednesday that Warner Bros.' hit movie Happy Feet was like "an animated Inconvenient Truth," Al Gore's documentary about global warming. "I half expected to see an animated version of Al Gore pop up," he said. In the lower part of the screen, the words, "Is Hollywood using kids movies to promote agenda?" were posted. Cavuto called the film "big-time objectionable" for "foisting" a political position on children. He called in Fox critic Holly McClure who agreed and took the film to task for negative portrayals of marine acquariums and water parks, saying that they were intended to make parents "feel guilty" about taking their kids to them. Meanwhile, Fox News's corporate sibling 20th Century Fox has posted a trailer for the upcoming The Simpsons Movie on YouTube, showing Homer finding himself hilariously banged about between a rock and a hard place. That animated film also reportedly has an environmental message.

You got love Fox News.:o

oh man.....the people at fox news are ****wads...now THAT is an inconvenient truth.

lol

Every single children's book or film ever made had an agenda.
Happy Feet totally has a liberal agenda.
You know, just 'cause it's Fox saying something doesn't automatically make it untrue.

dude, it's a movie about penguins tap dancing.
I doubt if I took my little cousins to see it they'd come out registered democrats, or indoctrinated.
they would likely feel like tap-dancing.

Doesn't Cavuto talk about stocks? He's not a move critic.

And a cartoon movie about the lives of penguins who sing songs to attract a mate has what to do with global warming?

Faux News indeed.

Yeah, I actually saw this on-air. Honestly, most of the kids watching the movie arent going to care or notice.

I guess you haven't seen it.
Of course it's about singing, dancing penguins...and then the U.N. bans fishing around Antarctica 'cause man's encroachment was threatening to make the penguins extinct.
The hero tries to reason with the aliens (humans), but they cruelly put him in a zoo, until a girl sees him dancing and then they put a radio collar on him and release him.

You can't see the liberal agenda there?
I never said it was a nefarious brain-washing exercise, but jeezus, I don't know about you, but all of my art has an agenda, my agenda.

no, you missunderstand me.
all movies have a message, jurassic park had a "beware the evils of technology" message, yet I wouldn't call it part of the christian conservative agenda.
and I doubt that kids came out of it going like "oh man, cloning is dangerous" if anything they came out going "cloning is awesome...I wish they could clone steven segal"
calling Happy feet part of a "liberal agenda" because it happens to have a message is dumb.

It has a liberal message 'cause the guy who wrote it is a liberal and wanted to teach a lesson about man's abuse of nature.
Kind of like how Dr. Seuss set out to teach kids about conservation, the evils of mindless consumerism and that we must always stand against despotism.

What exactly do they expect a movie to be about, it's a movie about penguins. They are not going to make an hour and a half film about them going "boy I'm sure glad George Bush is President and Global Warming is just a myth...watch Fox News".

Wow, thanks to Fox-hatred I'm reading some really smart people saying some oddly dumb things.

Why does everyone keep saying, "It's a MOVIE about PENGUINS." ?
That's like saying the Lord of the Rings is a movie about Hobbits and Elves or that Star Wars was a movie about robots and aliens.
:o

 but I'm not desputing that it could have a "liberal" message.
I'm disputing the fact that it's part of an AGENDA which implies coordination
I went to see "behind enemy lines" because my girl has a thing for Owen Wilson, and I'd hardly say it's part of the conservative war machine agenda, even though the Americans are painted as awesome humanitarians saving the world one thrid world country at a time.

Message, sure, movies have messages all the time except for the American pie series, part of some broad Liberal reptilian agenda?

No.

Because what the hell do Penguins have to do with conservative agendas in the first place?

If you make a movie about animals exactly how are you going to make it not have "animal rights" or "destruction of habitat" as the conflict.

Wellp, I've seen a lot of kid's movies featuring anthropomorphic animals.
I've never seen one where it took the UNITED NATIONS to save the day. :o

And why are you all acting like a liberal agenda would be a BAD thing?!?
Dr. Seuss was V.E.R.Y. vocal about his liberal agenda?
Do you guys think that was shameful of Dr. Seuss?

To be fair, first time I saw Batman and Robin I ran right out and bought me some spiffy, homoerotic latex. :yay::up:

Mmmm, see, this is one of those "dumb" sounding posts. :csad:

Have you ever seen that movie starring all of the animals playing basketball, "Space Jam" I believe it was called?
Or are you going to try and tell me that bugs BUNNY, Daffy DUCK, Sylvester the CAT, Porky PIG, the ROAD RUNNER and Wile E. COYOTE don't count as "animals"?

tsk tsk

Happy Feet looks dumb to me anyways...

oh, words, they are so crucial.

"has a liberal message" meaning it...um has a liberal message
"is part of the Liberal agenda" meaning there's liberals, coordinating , plotting and planning stuff behind the scenes, hiring writters, paying off studios and movie critics, all to spread their evil innacurate message.

Kind of like "death tax" and "estate tax" same thing different wording, yet one has a negative connotation. negative enough to get people to repeal it after voting for it for years.

D00d!
There WERE liberals coordinating, plotting and planning stuff behind the scenes. And they didn't have to hire liberal writers 'cause IT WAS WRITTEN BY A LIBERAL.
LOL, just...wow, wow.

Here's the thing. Pretty much any movie worth watching has some sort of message. So what if this movie is saying "humans, stop wrecking antarctica!!". I think it's a good thing to give our children some sort of positive message on the environment. Perhaps you'd like to see a childrens movie about smoke stacks, and how great they are. Tap dancing smoke stacks.
