Free-roaming flying game? No, not Flight Simulator...

Anyone know of a good PC game that let's you fly around "sand-box" style? Kinda like Superman Returns' free-roaming environment where you control the character and fly around. The nerdy part of me always has wanted to fly like that but they don't make SR for PC .

I know it's dumb question, but can you help a gamer-noob out?
