Fright Night remake

This should be interesting to say the least.

Yes, I have. I like unconventional women.

Toni Collette is grotty. Then again I like Alia Shawkat & alot of people think she's gross, so I should prolly shut up :oldrazz::awesome:

I hope that's just a wig David wears in the movie, it would be totally awesome if he were sporting his Dr. Who look. :o

The cast will ensure that at least. Probably the only reason I'm actually interested in it is because of the cast.

That and it appears to be its own thing rather than basically a copy of the original. I think it's safe to say that Tennant isn't trying to play ersatz Peter Cushing.

I don't think my expectations are that high, but I think they're actually trying to approach it as a real movie instead of a cheap cash-in. And it's not like I think Fright Night is some untouchable classic anyways, although McDowell is the goods. It might not be good, but it won't be bad and without an original idea or two.

And, hey, getting the original out on Blu Ray will be nice.

Still skeptical of this since I am a huge fan of the original and even like it's lesser sequel to an extent. I generally don't like vampire movies since they have become the domain of teeny angst BS. And while the protagonists of the original in fact WERE teenagers, that wasn't the focus of the story and I appreciated that. It's one of the reasons why I liked FN while I didn't care for Lost Boys. I'll try to keep an open mind about this, though.

The only vamp movies I really ever liked were FN, Interview With The Vampire, Innocent Blood and much later, Let The Right One In.

Fright Night Remake: Release Date Moved Up, Surprise Cameo Announced, Official Synopsis Revealed

Posted 10.17.10 by BrentJS

Apparently, DreamWorks is becoming more and more adept at producing movies in 3D because instead of the process pushing back the release of the upcoming remake of the 1985 comedy-horror classic Fright Night, the decision to go 3D has resulted in the studio moving up the release of the movie, abandoning the Halloween movie season release date of October 7, 2011, for a summer release on August 19, 2011.

Fright Night will be directed by Craig Gillepsie and is expected to begin principal photography any day now with Anton Yelchin headlining the cast as the new Charlie Brewster, the teenager with a charming neighbor (Colin Farrell) who just happens to be a vampire. Fans of the original movie will also be pleased to know that the original vampire-next-door, Chris Sarandon, will be making a cameo in the movie as an unspecified character.
Here's the official synopsis of the Fright Night remake:
Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collete), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.
The cast also includes Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Charlie's friend, "Evil" Ed Thompson, David Tennant as vampire "expert" and magician, Peter Vincent, and Imogen Poots as Charlie's girlfriend, Amy.

Next Showing: Fright Night opens August 19, 2011

i'll give it a go, i just want to see a proper vampire film.

i loved the original and hopefully they stick with practical effects and have amy's crazy vamp look

I don't see Colin's fangs, you just see his bloody mouth and the rest of his teeth. And Imogen Poots has matured into a beautiful young woman...

I'm still trying not to get any of my hopes up, but many of these DO look good.

****! dude u scared the crap out of me, i was just scrolling down and BAM!. LOL
Anyways, speaking of Tom Holland, I´d rather have a Child´s Play remake.............just saying.

^^ A Child's Play reboot is in the works, tbh. Hell, Brad Dourif is set to play CHucky once more. However, it's been shelved for a little while. It's going to happen, just not yet.

I love Fright Night. I can't believe the remake actually looks GOOD. :wow:

Fright Night is one of my absolute favorite movies. I'm definitely willing to give this remake a watch though, if for no other reason than to see a real vampire movie.
