Strokes, folks, etc. After years of people talking about how awesome and scary Hellraiser was I found it to be quite the disappointment. Prince of Darkness wasn't as bad but on the other hand it was no Thing either.

No offense, but it sounds like it was a mistake to take their opinions at face value. It honestly isn't a knock at you at all. I thought that Satan being in liquid form in Prince of Darkness was interesting, I mean who would have thought that the liquid was evil and controlling?

Agreed. It's all i nthe brilliant mind of Carpenter Though, I think John Caprenter's #1 was most underrated film is Vampires (1998).

It differs significantly from Steakley's book but yeah, I love it too. The soundtrack is awesome as well.

^^ Yeah, but that's what makes them fun. I think it's stupid how people want an in depth character driven film for every movie they watch. What about just having fun some times? Maybe it's my horror passion ocming out, considering it is my favorite gnere.

Not every movie. Blow up the world movies actually benefit from not having them, or at least not having them much. I watch those purely for the thrill of seeing massive destruction. But I don't get a thrill from seeing people stalked & killed w/o any reason beyond a love of gore or cheap 'gotcha' scares.

Ah, The Thing. One of my all time favorites.:woot:

Superior to Scott's Alien, IMO.

I usually find science fiction horror movies scary, but once the scare is over. I'm done, because I can think ''Well, this doesn't exist." A slasher leaves me thinking in a way. People do pick up knives and guns and kill other people. The scares just keep coming.

That's what Jason and Freddy are famous for. Jason, especially, and i hope more keep coming, lol.

Btw, to add to another post, I also love John Carpenter's The Thing. Fantastic.

There was a rumor that a Trailer will be debuting with Priest. Anybody confirm if that is true?

Trailer kind of sucks. Collin isn't as bad as I thought he'd be.

Poster rocks, but I have a feeling this isn't going to be anything like the original.

Um, lol, WOW. That trailer was an awful mess. Everything was so anti-climatic and the editing was ****. Colin was good, though. And boy, that Anton kid ain't aging well, is he? Looks like he needs to lay off the coke.

Where the **** is Peter Vincent? That trailer takes itself too seriously. The Original Fright Night is a great campy movie. Looks like they took that aspect away, which is too bad.

Colin Farrell looks like he will handle the role well though.

You know they're gonna downplay the comedy in order to get the horror and vampire crowd in there. If they showcased any of the wit people would ***** about it being goofy.

Lame. Hope its included, I also hope they go the way of heavy make up/creature effects in the end. Would have been cooler to play against those films.

Does anyone know if Peter Vincents magic show is called Fright Night?

Meh, I was hoping for something a bit better. Trailer seemd a bit sloppy in parts. wheres Peter!?

I grew with the original back in the day and I gotta say I don't know what to make of the new trailer. On one hand , I think if you're gonna remake a classic like Fright Night you've got to go in a different direction which looks like this version is. Clearly they've updated the story. On the other hand, why call it fright night? Fright Night is creepy but it was a bit of a satire and funny as well. If anything , Scream 4 is closer to the original Fright Night then this is from the trailers at least. But who knows.

It seems to me the problem with alot of these 80's remakes seem to be that alot of the 80's films worked best in the context of that time, and these film makers today try to bring a 2000's ironic and snarky sense to stories which fit best in the 80's. Hollywood isn't moving toward some of the stories whose elements are timeless. They are instead going alot of the dated pop culture classics like A Team, Athur, Robocop, Smurfs etc. Then when the remakes fall flat with the audiences the studios don't seem to know why.
