Fright Night remake

Hmm, the script review doesn't seemed very promising imo, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. If the movie turns out to be more teen angst than horror, though, then I'll be disappointed.
Hey, it said 7/10. I thought that was meant to be a good thing? LOL.

I say and bring some stuff up, when I'm done reading it. I'm 13 pages in and it seems very different then the original. A bit more modern but its expected.

So I just got done reading the Fright Night remake script and here are my thoughts on some of the things really.. Good and the possible bad.

Charlie is a bit of a dick, seeing how he got good looking over the summer and is now a jock, while leaving his Best friend Evil Ed behind. Its kinda like a role reversal so to speak. Evil found out Jerry was a vampire and came to tell him about it, but Charlie doesn't believe him, cause he thinks he's making it up. Ed is more dressed like a punk rocker and is obsessed with horror movies and comic books.

and from the descriptions the Amy in this movie is suppose to be drop dead gorgeous, compared to the one from the original. Because in the script shes the girl every guy would want. And Jerry in this so far seems alot different then the original.

There's this cool scene in Jerry's house with one of Charlie's Neighbors. I think he was making his own vampire brides or something and feeding off them. and she didn't know it and as her and Charlie escaped it, was turning it's turning Dawn and as the Sun hit her she exploded. And there was a brief Peter Vincent commercial seen on the TV, during the opening of the script.

His character description is: 40's, but all wiry rock n' roll attitude. Leather pants and tattoo's, long black hair wrapped in a bandanna. Dark painted nails and heavy eye make-up. (Which is later on were find is a cover up and he wears a wig and a tattoo type skin that's a shirt.

I guess basically either just think Cris Angel or Russell Brand. LOL

Plus the mother seems to be in this alot more then in the original. The one scene where Jerry wanted to come into the house, this was after he knew Charlie was in his house and wanted to be invited in and wasn't. Then I think it said he dug into the ground and his the gas line and that the stuff inside the house started to explode, cause if their was no house he could come in they said.

And then there is a chase scene after the house explodes. With Charlie, his mom and Amy. Jerry is chasing after them in his truck and then gets ahead and pulls infront of them and they press on the brakes and then Jerry gets out and tries to attack them, but Charlie floors it, running Jerry over in the process. They think they've got ride of him, but he's at the bottom of the car ripping apart the bottom of the car and floor and reaching into the car to top it. All while you see his flesh and clothe tore off by the road, but you see his gleaming red eyes.

And way Evil Meets Jerry is alot different and at first tries to defend himself, but eventually Jerry talks him into it. And Ed's demise is alot different, I'll say that, but won't spoil it. He says the infamous "Your so cool Brewster" line though.

Towards the end of the movie there is a throw down with Charlie, Peter and Amy against Evil and Jerry in Peter's Penthouse on top of the Casino.

One of the things that remains the same is the Nightclub scene, where Jerry takes Amy away from Charlie, but all the people in the club, think nothing of it, since they are all hammered wasted.

Peter Vincent's past is a bit different, we found out Peter Has a whole collection of a sorted weapons, which were first for collection. But we find out Peter's whole family was killed by a Vampire. and that he got the weapons to hunt down the vamp who did it. It's not Jerry, though. And that's why he helps Charlie, cause he said something about not wanting to be like him and hiding.

The finale also takes place in the bottom of Jerry's house. But the bottom part is held up by beams and its all dirt down there. Cause Jerry sleeps in the dirt and is a certain vampire that's mention in the movie, that sleeps in the dirt and slowly feeds off his victims until their either dead or turned.

Anyway so Peter and Charlie are down there and looking for Amy and to kill Jerry, when they come upon dirt graves of his victims are or turning, so that he can I guess have a vampire army. Peter gets locked into a room with Jerry's grave down there, while Charlie is with Amy and she's turning just like in the original. and all the other vamps are down there. So charlie stabs her, but not in the heart and escapes and sees Peter is being attacked by the other vamps and helps him. Charlie then goes after Jerry. While Peter Props up and shoots the beams down and the place starts to crumble and the sun starts to fill in, charlie and Jerry wrestle on the ground with him on fire a bit, until he uses a special stake that Peter gave him, who said will save all of Jerry's victims and back to life.

And then it ends with everyone at Peter's place and Peter and Charlie go to talk and Charlie thinks he sees Ed's reflection of one of the glass mirrors.

And the last words are you're so cool Brewster, like the original

Also just to say a couple dumb things are the dumb jock friends the new popular Charlie hangs out with, and Amy's annoying ditsy friends at the start, but that's okay, we don't see them after that one scene. I just felt there was a little too much High School stuff at the start.

So doing that long detailed review of the script, which is a big spoiler really, I would have to give it about a 8/10 really.

I like they did something new with the story and wasn't a carbon copy of the original, which they could have done, but didn't. But alike the NOES remake, I'm sure some will be pissed cause its not 100% like the original.

Plus Jerry's last words is hilarious! As he's about to die he just says Blow Me to Charlie and as Charlie is taken back by the explosion, he's knocked out with Amy and Peter comforting him, he awakes and jokingly says "Blow me?" And says "what a tool that guy was"

Imogen Poots to Get Nasty in 'Fright Night' Remake

Another little piece of Intel hit our in-box this afternoon as we're being told that Imogen Poots (yeah, crazy name) is in final talks to star as "Amy", a popular high school senior who "needs to get nasty" by the finale, in DreamWorks' 3-D Fright Night. She'll join Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, Toni Collette, David Tennant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse in the Craig Gillespie's directed redo filming in New Mexico next month. Poots starred in V for Vendetta, 28 Weeks Later and Neil Marshall's forthcoming Centurion. The original Fright Night, written and directed by Tom Holland in 1985, was a horror comedy about a teenager who discovers that his neighbors are vampires.

Looks like we might have our Amy. But not to be a dick or anything, but this chick isn't as hot as the Amy character is described in the script.

If that's the case, then she fits the bill for me.

I hope they stick with the "Come to Me" theme music.

An Ideal Release Date for Fright Night 3D

The remake of Fright Night that rolls cameras soon for Dreamworks has landed an October 7, 2011 release date.

Just in time for the Halloween season. Could it be? Studios are catching on that October is sometimes a good time to release a genre flick?

Yes, the redo is apparently going to be in 3D and, presently, it faces no competition at the box office. Unless, of course, Lionsgate preps another Saw sequel for later in the month.

Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, David Tennant, Imogen Poots and Christopher Mintz-Plasse star for director Craig Gillespie. Shooting begins this summer in New Mexico.

So that means they'll well over a year to do this and then post production.

Thank-goodness, I'm tired of only having Saw to see during Halloween, not that I was watching them, but I appreciate having options.

I have a lady friend who got invited to McLovin's Bday coming up (she does a lot of extra work in television and movies), she promised me she'd squeeze some fright night goodies for us.

Well, I asked her if she got our info. This is what she said:

was too busy, we did talk about hating twlight and that hes filming a vampire movie next month aka fright night and hes excited because its rated r of course.

And

he kept asking me weird twitter questions.

The rest of her facebook statuses were about how she was watching a movie with McLovin' in his hotel room. WTF. She disappointed me :(

Hmmmm... the 10th Doctor and McLovin' in the same movie, eh? I'm interested! Just hope Tennant doesn't get killed off!

You sure that pertains to the movie? It's kind of weird Hard Rock cafe would be the first to advertize it.

Unless you know Peter Vincent is entertaining at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino.

Maybe it's just me, but one of these actors should consider coming up with a stage name in the future "Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, David Tennant, Imogen Poots and Christopher Mintz-Plasse star for director Craig Gillespie. Shooting begins this summer in New Mexico."

Wow, what a great cast they got there. I'm looking forward to this now.

I'm surprised Toni Collette's in this movie. I do think Craig Gillespie picked her for the role because of United States of Tara, and her Milf looks contrast well with Colin Farrell's Jerry Dandrige.

I do find it ironic seeing Imogen Poots in the Amy Peterson role. Amanda Bearse came out after Fright Night and Married With Children, while Imogen Poots played a lesbian in V for Vendetta.

Collette hot? Eww, dude have you seen her face?

I'm semi-pumped for this, but it's mainly due to Yelchin, who's one of my favorite young actors today.

I glad there is a remake on the way...why? because it means we'll get the original on blu ray at the same time
