FX - The League

Sometimes when I **** I ***!

LOOK AT ME SO I CAN FINISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pete, are you really the one who should be talking Andre out of a relationship? Come on, now...

Rupert Ruxin > Rafi

So much so. Every scene Goldblum was in stole the show and a big part of that was because he was in only two scenes. Meanwhile, Rafi was in nearly every scene of the finale. The writers are just overusing him. They need to cut him back to maybe 2 or 3 episodes of the next season and use him sparingly.

Looks like they're writing in another member of the league to actually show up next season?

There have always been two out of town members. It is an eight person league. There is Pete, Kevin, Ruxin, Andre and Taco as well as originally three out of town players. However, one out of towner left the league in the season 2 premiere and was replaced by Rafi, who was then replaced by Rafi. The two remaining out of towners are Chuck and Ted (both of whom are old friends of the gang). It has been implied that neither really pays much attention to the league. Though Ted's ominous post on the league message board seems to imply that we will finally meet him next season (and maybe Chuck too) and that they will start to get involved.

Yeah, it's getting to the point with Rafi that I kind of hope they build up his insanity to the point where he ends up just getting himself murdered and then that'll be the end of him. It's just too much.

Agreed. The finale was tremendous with the exception of Rafi. Rupert Ruxin shows exactly how a guest star should be.

I think everybody is just too damn hard on Rafi. I would like to see him die though. If there's a show that needs a ****ed up funeral episode it's this show. Seth Rogen shows up at the funeral drunk and crying "Only the good die young!!!!"

The League Casts Andre’s Parents, Promises "Miserable" Wedding in Season 5
by Kate Stanhope

Andre may not have won the Shiva Bowl on The League last season, but did he end the season on a big personal high note.

"As we left last season, Andre and Trixie were engaged so we are picking up right where that left off with a wedding," co-creator and executive producer Jeff Schaffer said at the Television Critics Association fall TV previews Friday. "I think Andre and Trixie are preparing the most labor-intensive, guest-unfriendly wedding on the planet."

Andre's upcoming nuptials mean that Jayma Mays will reprise her role as Trixie this season. Additionally, viewers will finally get to meet the two people responsible for bringing Andre into the world: his parents, played by Griffin Dunne (House of Lies) and Glenne Headly, who recently played Ben's mom on Parks and Recreation.

Although Schaffer teased that "everything is going to be miserable for the guests" at Andre and Trixie's ceremony, star Paul Scheer promised it won't be quite as bad as Game of Thrones' red wedding this last season. "No major characters will be killed at this wedding," Scheer said with a laugh.

The show's upcoming fifth season will also see Seth Rogen return in what Schaffer called an "absolutely insane" episode centered on Dirty Randy and Rafi (Jason Mantzoukas). Ruxin's sister will also be introduced, but no casting has been announced.

Season 5 of The League premieres Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 10:30/9:30c on FXX. Are you excited to meet Andre's parents?

lol this could be potentially horrifying.

super pissed that they are moving it to FXX since I have basic cable and it won't be on there. Oh well, I always have my torrents I guess

Rogen was hilarious, and gained some more weight it looks like.

"Is that a trident made from *****s?"

How did I not know Adam Brody would guest star? Or did I just forget?

"I don't know what a trident is, but these are definitely some *****s". :funny:

Just like It's Always Sunny, this too was a great premiere. :woot:

Last nights show was great. I had to pause it a few times because I couldn't stop laughing I was crying by the time the show was done. Andre with his man cave and creampies had me in tears and Kevin and Ruxin's reactions were great in that scene. Then the Ruxin trophy and Ruxin yelling "Why is there a Joe Paterno trophy with my name on it?" killed as well. Along with the other League that I hope we see more of.

I was almost expecting to see Frank The Body pop up with the Domination League

TV Ratings: 'Always Sunny,' 'The League' Lose Little Audience in FXX Move
2:24 PM PDT 9/5/2013 by Michael O'Connell

UPDATED: During its third day on the air, the new cable network kicks off seasons of two imported FX comedy staples, alongside talker "Totally Bias," holding reasonably steady in the targeted demographics and seeing growth among young men.

After a strong network launch on Monday that easily eclipsed previous ratings performances from former channel holder Fox Soccer, FXX delivered its first night of original programming on Wednesday.

The comedy-centric cable outlet debuted new seasons of FX imports It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League and talker Totally Bias With W. Kamau Bell. And while the late-night offering did see sharper dips, the scripted efforts were largely in line with last season's hauls in the targeted demographics.

Always Sunny, kicking off its ninth season, anchored the block at 10 p.m. The comedy averaged 757,000 viewers in its first airing on the new network. It also averaged a 648,000 adults 18-49 and a 575,000 adults 18-34, retention of 80 and 85 percent from last season's opener. Also down from last fall's 1-million-strong premiere, it's losses were small considering the move -- and it actually grew 8 percent in men 18-34 to 396,000.

FXX currently airs in 72 million homes, down a 26 million homes from FX, which accounts for much of the initial audience dip. It's also a credit to Sunny that this is the first time it has had to go head-to-head with A&E juggernaut and cable's current demo all-star Duck Dynasty.

"There are a lot of things that go into how we evaluate our shows, outside of just ratings, and we're very clear that they're not going to perform how they perform on FX," programming president Eric Schrier recently told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview with counterpart Nick Grad. "It's a long-term play."

The League started its fifth season with 786,000 viewers at 10:30 p.m.. It grew from Sunny's haul, and was within even closer reach of the key adult demos from last year's premieres. It held 94 percent of its showing among adults 18-49 (687,000) and 92 percent of adults 18-34 (537,000).

“The numbers last night on FXX for Sunny and The League far exceeded our highest expectations,” said FX Networks and FX Productions CEO John Landgraf. “To have just launched the channel three days ago and get these ratings is thrilling. The delivery of these shows needs no qualification, they are proven appointment viewing for young adult audiences. Thanks to the fans and congratulations to Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton, Charlie Day and everyone involved with Sunny, and to Jeff and Jackie Schaffer and everyone on The League.”

W. Kamau Bell is in a slightly different position with Totally Bias. The young talk show, part of FX's move into late night last year, kicks off its FXX run as a nightly program. The episode brought in 90,000 adults 18-34 and 137,000 adults 18-49, holding a respective 59 and 49 percent from its last weekly cycle. (The show was up an astronomical 2,900 percent in adults 18-34 and 1,857 percent in adults 18-49 from last September's comparatively minor time slot showing for Fox Soccer.)

I just thought of something, they should totally cross promote more and also air encores of shows on both channels if they can fit them in somewhere. It'd help if they could air an encore of IASIP and The League tonite say around 11 or 12 est and make sure to play an ad saying something like "Remember to catch Its Always Sunny at its regular scheduled time on its new night and new channel only on FXX. Check your local listings blah blah blah". I think it'd definitely help cuz I know a ton of people who have no idea about it

full blown Ted. Man this looks to be the best season yet, this show just keeps getting better and better. Not only does the show provide genuine laughs for the whole shebang but they way they toss in running jokes/gags from the series as a whole is great way to reward long time viewers

If you aren't sure what FXX is, it's basically that Fox Soccer channel you didn't know was all the way up the dial in like the 400s.

Rafi needs to go away. He isn't funny at all.

He was great in very small doses, and while I still love Rafi I can't blame people for getting turned off by his increased presence.
