MTV talked to Neil Gaiman, who says that he is producing a live-action adaptation of his new New York Times best-seller "The Graveyard Book," illustrated by Dave McKean. The following is a description of the book:

Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy.

He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead.

There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy-an ancient Indigo Man beneath the hill, a gateway to a desert leading to an abandoned city of ghouls, the strange and terrible menace of the Sleer.

But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack—who has already killed Bod's family...

Gaiman says he took the project to special effects house Framestore (The Dark Knight). "They want to start making films, and start producing their own films," Gaiman said, "...I think we’re actual going to stick with where the book is written and film that. And I think part of the idea is that they know they can also do the special effects cheaply."

That will be a big issue for this film, considering most of the characters are "dead, or werewolves, or ghouls, or something else mysterious," Gaiman added.

Neil Gaiman's "Graveyard" Is Still Fresh

By Garth Franklin

Neil Gaiman says the film adaptation of his "The Graveyard Book" is still on the cards, albeit with a different distributor and director.
The "Stardust" and "Sandman" author tells The Los Angeles Times that "It was all put together over at Miramax Films. The people there had a long, great relationship with Neil Jordan and it was all set up and ready to go, and then Miramax was more or less erased from existence."
He continued saying "it became a filing cabinet in somebody's desk, more or less... But it looks like almost all the pieces are on the table again. They have a studio, they have a distributor and they are putting stuff together and I'm not allowed to say anything else."
Is Neil Jordan ("The Crying Game, " "Interview with the Vampire") still attached? Hard to say. Gaiman is also at work on a screenplay for his novel "Anansi Boy".

So, now Henry Selick is involved?

oh awesome, guess comingsoon.net's slow on the uptake. on I partly hope that he tries a hand at live action again with this, though I'll be just as ecstatic if he makes it stop motion.

Eh, on the other hand, they could be choosing someone whose distinct style is bad. :o

At least with Howard there's still a chance.

So it'll at least be adequate. I'd still rather some one with a bit more panache behind the camera.

Yes, get Ron to do it. That way he'll stay the hell away from Episode VII.

Says a prequels defender. :o

Didn't Gaiman dispute the claims though? I really doubt he's guilty unless evidence comes out. And we would've heard by now if there was.

Of course he disputed it but even more women have come forward with allegations. I’m sure Disney has done their own investigation into it as well and I guess they found the claims to be reputable. As someone who has been a huge fan of his work since I was a little kid, it’s so upsetting that he turned out to be a creep.

I'm gonna wait until this mess plays out to get the full story. And plus it was like one or two other people after the first two. And the first 2 were from a very dubious source. Given how Gaiman's a noted LGBTQ supporter and how borked the UK is with homophobia and transphobia right now, let's wait and see how legit this all is and not a smear campaign.
