I just drove around for the past 45 minutes looking for gas. There are no gas stations within at least a 5 mile radius that have any gas right now.

I live inside the city of Atlanta. Looks like I might have to head out to the suburbs on a gas hunt if I want to drive anywhere this weekend . Ridiculous. :cmad:

Buy a bunch of leather clothes and a sawed-off shotgun.

This happened to me the other day (in FL) I needed to fill up before class and went to six different gas station, nothing to be found. I ended up turning around and going home (thankfully, class was canceled).

you guys are so screwed in the states.

sad for you, good for canada.

A-Town aint so b****ing now huh :o

Last I heard, there are huge lines at the few gas stations in the city that still have gas, so I'm thinking by the end of today's workday, Atlanta will be dry.:csad:

I'd just take the bus or the train, but I'm heading out to a friend's house this weekend that's about 25 miles outside the city. My car is already on "E", so if I can't find anything closer, I'll have to cancel. :down

This makes very little sense, every year Hurricane's hit the states, why are we having gas shortages this year? Or is this an annual problem?

Come on John McCain thinks the economy is better now than 8 years ago and we all know old people don't lie.

I don't understand why the Southeast is being affected like this when no other area is being affected with a gas shortage.

Around here it's ok, as long as you're not after premium/plus/super gas or whatever it's called. Most places here have regular.

At least they will until the swarm of football fans hits Athens tonight/tomorrow.

I heard you guys in Atlanta were bad off. Here in Augusta, it got pretty bad, but is supposed to be fine within 4 days.

Maybe if we invested in alternative energies a decade ago like we should have, we wouldn't have this problem?

Oh well, that's what happens when the Vice President and 2/3 of Congress is dipping into the pockets of the oil industry.

Yeah...Athens is screwed this weekend.

By the way..you will NOT ever hear me say this-Go Dogs!
(I hate Alabama more than UGA, amazingly).

So is it just the Southeast or is anyone else having trouble finding gas?

Man I hate when something like this happens. I can't help but wonder if this is just an artificial shortage used to drive up prices.

I haven't seen any issues like this in Savannah, but I'm wondering if I should go out and fill my tank anyway...

Na, you are close to South Carolina (like us). I have heard it didnt hit them nearly as hard as Georgia for whatever reason.

I feel bad for the guys experiencing this, I wasn't even aware this was happening until this thread. In Indiana and have had no probs with getting gas today. However I'm personally going to call BS on the gas shortage. I thought our gasoline reserves are at the highest they've been in a decade. Ppl are paying double for gas as it is so demand most likely is down since that $20 isn't buying you as many gallons of gas as it used to, therefore wouldn't that = less demand if ppl aren't purchasing as many gallons of gas due to the high prices?

Not trying to sound 'left wing' or anything as I'm not necessarily fond of either side, but something just smells fishy. Probably reading too much into it, but it seems like everytime gas prices start to dip down a new crisis happens to raise them back up, which I'm sure the shortage will do.

Last week some places in GA were selling gas for $7-8 a gallon due to the "shortage."

My brother lives in Nashville, TN, and last week, there was a rumor that there was no gas in the state, that caused people to line up at gas stations, overfill, and follow gas trucks around, causing a real shortage.
