World Generation X 1996

Holy Hell...you don't EVER want to see that. It was almost as bad as the Hasselhoff Nick Fury movie. *shudder*

^

I must admit, I kind of want to see it just so I myself can know how awful it is.

Those clips were all taken from a Jubilee site, so I presume they've only uploaded Jubilee clips.

Emma is briefly seen in the clips.

thank you for sharing those clips. they're great... for an early attempt it's not so bad...

Was this really a made for TV movie or was it a TV pilot that never took off into a series?

Later on there was a show called "Mutant X" and that didn't last long itself. Does anyone know when Mutant X came out and how long it ran? I've only seen clips of it on youtube.

It's funny how they've only made live action TV shows related to x-men and not one for x-men itself.:(

I never saw Mutant X, but I know it wasn't a Marvel thing. Generation X, I believe, was a straight to tv movie with hopes of it becoming an ongoing television show. It was pretty good for it's time and low budget, I thought. I liked it.

I just did some research and found out Mutant X ran for 3 seasons. I also read that Mutant X was an x-men spinoff that was quite different from the comics.

oh my god...that movie is SOOO bad.
everyone should watch it. it's almost high camp it's so bad.

Mutant X ran for 3 seasons before it was cancelled.

It centred around an agency which attempted genetic manipulation to help save certain youngsters, but wound up manipulating their DNA causing them to develop special powers.

The two head guys of the agency, Mason and Adam, split, Adam regretting what he had done and wanting to help the 'New Mutants' whilst Mason wanted to keep them in stasis pods or use them for his own ends.

Mutant X was headed by Adam, who himself had no powers. For his team he had one of each type of mutant, a feral, a molecular, an energy, and a psionic.

Shalamar - A feral with heightened senses and speed. A spectacular fighter and able to find clues the other team members wouldn't be able to. Shares some feral fears, such as the fear of fire. Almost has a sixth sense when it comes to fighting.

Brennan - An energy mutant, who could throw electricity from his hands. His power later developed so that he could project the electricity in a different form from his hands, using it like a jetsream to be able to levitate.

Emma - A psionic with empathic powers. Able to sense empathic powers, which seemed to extend to an ability to create illusions. Could make a person believe they were blind, or they were in a completely different location etc. Later developed the ability to shoot psionic blasts from her forehead. Died at the end of season 2.

Jesse - A molecular with the ability to 'mass' or 'phase'. When he phases, his body becomes intangible, and when he masses, it becomes rock solid. He can stop a car dead in its track when in this state.

Emma was replaced in season 3 by another female, with the ability to manipulate light.

It was a good series. I enjoyed it. Have yet to see season 3 yet though.

I always thought that Mutant X was a rip off of the X-Men stuff, and that Marvel tried to sue them for it? I think I heard that somewhere. Oh well, I don't know.

-The Generation X movie was horrible. Yes it was made for television and no, it wasn't a pilot that never took off. It was a feature length, two hour television special, that was followed up later, by the horrible "Nick Fury: Agent of Shield" television movie, that starred David "Michael Knight" Hasslehoff. I was about twelve when this movie came out. Back then, I ate up every bit of it. It was the X-Men on television, in live action format. But in the end, it is truly horrible. It's so amateurish that it is barely better than that amaetur Green Goblin, Spidey movie. It is all in all however, better than the Nick Fury movie. If you are that insistent on watching old Marvel movies that predate all of the modern/current studio efforts, I suggest you go watch Dolph Lundgrens version of The Punisher, or the straight to VHS/T.V. Captain America movie (both of which were very well done, for their time). Hell, you can still find The Trial of The Incredible Hulk on DVD, and that at least has Daredevil in it. But search if you must. I'm sure Generation X will turn up somewhere on the internet.

-Mutant X is a property of Marvel Entertainment. It isn't a horrible rip-off, nor has Marvel tried to sue the production studio. The series was in fact conceived by Avi Arad (the head of Toy Biz, which is a subsidiary of Marvel). However, 20th Century Fox did sue Marvel over the series. Marvel gave the film rights for the X-Men, to Fox (2001 is both when Mutant X and the X-Men movie came out). Fox claimed that Mutant X bordered heavily on many of the same premises present in the X-Men movie. So Marvel had to alter the show, in order to not violate their own licensing agreement, with 20th Century Fox. The show isn't that bad though. The electricity mutant is easily comparable to the Wolverine/loner type. The series closely follows the architype established by it's source material (the X-Men) and bares many parallels. The leader of Mutant X is to Professor X, what the antagonist is to Magneto. Except, the leader and the antagonist are not mutants.

actually if the tv movie was successful it would've been a tv series
