As someone who leans more towards "Wars" than "Trek", I guess I kind of wish it were someone like Mark Hamill that had taken the initiative to start this alliance, but dammit that video was funny. I started subscribing to Takei on Facebook after that. I think the dude's entire life now is scouring the internet and being a badass.

To be honest, I am surprised that so many straight men are anti-Twilight. The general ethos of the franchise basically sets the empowerment of women and girls back 10-20 years, it gives you guys back the advantage. Possibly the only drawback is that it teaches the unpretty awkward girls that they shouldn't just be the "practice girls" for guys their age, but that's one positive aspect of these stories maybe.

That also sort of insinuates that all men are domineering pigs. Also, it gives off the idea that the only truly caring men are the violent, unstable types.

I read the books, and I thought they went from OK to so bad I nearly threw Breaking Dawn at the wall by the end. The only thing that stopped me from doing it was that it was my boss's copy of the book.

I've seen the first 3 movies. My sister (who also hated the books) and I wait until they come out on DVD so we can openly mock them at home.

With Eclipse, we invited our mom to watch it with us. My nephew has his own little TV in the living room, and he was watching Cars while we were watching Eclipse. Halfway through Eclipse, we realized we were all looking over at my nephew's TV watching Cars instead.

I try not to knock the fans, since I'm a fan of plenty of geeky stuff myself...but damn, these stories are awful.

though i think the films are putrid and the characters are some of the most boring and disgusting examples of fiction i have ever seen, its the fans that make me hate the franchise

i know every fandom has its wackos, but when they consist of the majority of your fandom you have a serious problem

It's easy to see why men are anti-Twilight. You're talking about a series that features a vampire hundreds of years old chasing around what I presume to be some virgin 15 year old poon. Clearly the author doesn't understand men at all. Not only would someone hundreds of years old want nothing to do with high school, but in terms of sexual preference men always go with someone who knows wtf they're doing.

Blade is not that good either

Blade teaches the fundamental lesson that people should not try to ice skate uphill.

But it's not the majority. I know a ton of people who love Twilight, but none of them never camped in front of a premiere, tattooed themselves, or asked Robert Pattinson to bite them. Most even admit that it's crap...but for them, it's a guilty pleasure. And they think those wacko fans are out of their minds too.

The books and movies, on the other hand...are just rancid.

I think Steve King fans might have a stake in this as well. He said something to the effect that Meyer, compared to Rowling, was not that great of a children's author. Danyose's sig pretty much has the gist of it. Anyway a twilight fan made a video in response.

Did she criticizes King's novels/stories and compare them to Meyer's? No. She basically said he looks wierd.

I heard a fan claim that Stephen King was just jealous...despite the fact that he's sold more books that have been made into successful movies than Stephanie Meyer ever will in her lifetime, and that he praised JK Rowling during that same interview.

It's Harry Potter. No other film comes close including LOTR (This is coming from a die hard LOTR's fan) But people in my generation would think someone is strange if they didn't like Harry Potter.
