George Zimmerman was arrested this afternoon and is being held in the Seminole County Jail in Sanford, Florida, according to the Orlando Sentinel and TMZ. Charges have not yet been announced, but Karla Ray of Eyewitness News 9 is reporting that Zimmerman was arrested after a domestic disturbance involving his new girlfriend and a gun.

UPDATE: According to TMZ, Zimmerman's girlfriend claims she's pregnant. If true, that would make the domestic violence charge an automatic felony. While no charges are listed, the Seminole County Sheriff's website says Zimmerman is being held without bail.

If this sounds familiar, well, it is. In addition to shooting an unarmed teenager to death last year, Zimmerman was detained in September for a domestic incident involving his then-wife and a gun.

UPDATE 5:30 P.M.: Zimmerman's been charged:

George Zimmerman has been charged with domestic violence charges — including aggravated assault with a weapon, a felony, as well as misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal mischief — after he was arrested Monday afternoon in Florida following a fight with his girlfriend, authorities told reporters Monday evening. Zimmerman was being held without bond and was set to appear in court for the first time at 1:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, the sheriff's office said.

This guy just isn't going to stop until he kills somebody else, I hope he gets put away for a long time this time.

Considering he has a history of this now, you'd think he'd get put away this time.

Normally you would say he won't stop until he has killed someone. Sadly, that's how he got started. He should know better than to even be within a 100 yards of a gun let alone threatening yet another person with one.

I think at this point, he's a prime candidate for having his guns taken away.

Aww naw, can't do that. That's abusing 'god given rights' and the NRA will have you whacked.

Oh, yeah! I forgot. He actually has to be a convicted felon first.

And that's only legally acquired ones.

This guy.... he gets away with killing a kid and he thinks he's unstoppable.

Zimmerman's problem is that his girlfriend wasn't black. They wouldn't have even arrested him if she were.

Make no mistake, this post is absolutely as bitter and rage filled as it sounds.

This thread should be titled, "George Zimmerman Arrested Again...Again" because it's confusing. I thought someone had resurrected the last thread about this ****-stain getting arrested...again.

Zimmerman is such a menace that anyone who sees him coming should be able to invoke the Stand Your Ground law in self-defense.

Yeah, that's grounds for getting his guns taken away. As Macho Man said, "the cream rises to the top."

Definitely not the signs of some self righteous volatile trigger happy nut job looking for an excuse to shoot.

If only there was some evidence of him needlessly shooting someone, something to show he was a dangerous liability, then they could take him off the street before he actually does ki... Oh wait.

Just think, in some horrible parallel universe, Zimmernman is a police office.

Yeah the tiny universe that is his brain, he thinks he's not only a police, but judge, jury and executioner.
And sadly a bunch of people went out of their way to defend his delusional "right" to be so.

You really can't blame race for what happened in the Trayvon Martin case. If Zimmerman were black or Martin were a different skin color, almost the exact same thing would have happened regardless. The state had no case against him because of Florida's law and you seriously cannot expect a jury to declare someone guilty when there is legitimate doubt about someone's guilt.

Zimmerman is a total *****enozzle for what happened here and for killing Trayvon Martin, but we're not a nation of vigilante-esque justice. Besides the fact that they allowed Zimmerman to keep his guns was bound to get Zimmerman in trouble again sooner or later. Didn't expect it to be this soon though.

I always get upset when white people are killed too.

If by "almost the exact same" you mean the exact opposite ok. In what reality would a black man shooting an unarmed white teen have gone down the same way.:funny:

Actually their decision to let him go and allow him to keep his weapons was kind of saying we are.

I have to go with South Park on this one. If Trayvon Martin had been white, Zimmerman would be on death row right now.

No, I'm serious. The state's case against Zimmerman was so shoddy and poor, along with the stupidity of Flordia's laws, that his not guilty verdict was inevitable. I also hang out with a bunch of law students (most of them are very liberal) and they all say that the jury made the right decision in finding him innocent. The only differences that would have happened would be minor ones.

In no way am I defending Zimmerman. He's no Second Amendment hero like the way gun nuts like to make him out to be. He's nothing but an overzealous neighborhood watch nutbag. And xeno says it best in which he is such a menace to society to where it's probably a good idea to use a Stand Your Ground law on him just on mere sight. But there is no racism at all involved with Zimmerman's case.

Actually their decision to let him go and allow him to keep his weapons was kind of saying we are.
Ummmmm.....no it doesn't. It means that we're a nation of laws. Florida's laws sided with Zimmerman (Stand Your Ground), the prosecutors did an incompetent job in presenting their case against him (really, really, horrible), and the evidence presented created shreds of doubt (there are legitimate arguments that even though Zimmerman essentially provoked the fight, he had grounds for self-defense). And since he was found innocent, you can't just take away the man's constitutional rights.

lol @ the reverse of this situation being Black Gunman/White Teenager.

Does Zimmerman look white to you?

Yeah, the adoption of the phrase "white hispanic" was a new low for media coverage.

No, you just can't shoot a 17 year old white kid dead, and go home the same night.

I thought Zimmerman deserved a fair hearing, that the media was extremely biased against him (using dated pictures of Trayvon Martin, editing the audio, etc), and the case against him was obviously politically motivated.

But still. If Trayvon Martin had been white, the whole case would have been treated very differently.

Considering the story that Zimmerman gave seemed very credible and plausible, yeah, even if Martin were white, he would have still gone home. That is how Florida's laws work.

But still. If Trayvon Martin had been white, the whole case would have been treated very differently.
Again not really. It all comes down to the simple fact of how utterly inept the prosecution case against Zimmerman was. With a prosecution that incompetent and the evidence of the case, even if Martin were white, Zimmerman would have still been found innocent.

In no way am I endorsing this utter ridiculousness. But that's just how it tragically is.

I'm tired of this debate, but I'd just point out that you're ignoring the element of police work in a prosecution, even a flawed one.

If you shoot a white teenager, the police are getting a signed murder confession out of you that night. By any means at their disposal. If you're suspected of killing a young, photogenic white person, on that night you're no longer a citizen of a democracy.

I am not a believer in "black conspiracies" but even I know that the police treat cases differently based on the race of the victim.

None of this is helped by Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law which would have made this an easy prosecution otherwise. Instead that poorly implemented law allowed him to get away with it.
