Anyone else read this? I thought it was fabulously well written. Not exactly a fun read, but it certainly really 'spoke to me' about somethings, and the characters were very realistic.

These two girls. Theres no particular plot really, its about them nearing the end of puberty emerging into adults.

a girls' book then :(

should i read it anyway?

It's not a "girls' book". It's really quite good, though not the happiest book i've ever read.

I loved this book. The dialogue is a little rough, but the pacing feels right, and I love how real they feel. I was genuinely sad to watch Enid leave.

Some think it is a metaphor for her death. If you noticed, Carol and Enid's father sell her hearse and in the next panel look at something mournfully, but you don't see what it is.

It is great. The movie is fantastic, but I love the book a lot more.

Ghost World is probably Daniel Clowes' most accessible book but that's not to say his other stuff is not great. If you liked Ghost World try reading "David Boring" or any of his Eightball stuff. They are all collected in trades.

You may also want to give Adrian Tomine a read. He's like a 20-something version of Clowes. I'd recommend the Summer Blonde trade.

Thanks for the reccomendations, Ill look out for them, though it took me a while to get a copy of Ghost World. The only place near me that had a copy was the Library! I think I should tell them it shouldnt be in the 'comicbook' section with all the superman and xmen books....

I'd have thought libraries would read all the books that came in, lol.

Ghost World has, hands down, the best depiction of teenage girls in any medium I have yet seen.

Agreed, if you mean psychologically. I mean, the characters arent like me, but they're definatly like people I know.
