Nintendo Switch, PlayStation®4, Xbox One & PC

Experience an original adventure based on Hasbro’s legendary franchise
in this new team-based third-person shooter with split-screen co-op

MINNEAPOLIS Aug. 13, 2020 G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout, a new team-based, third-person shooter based on Hasbro’s mega-popular franchise, has been revealed. Play as your favorite heroes and villains from Team Joe and Team Cobra in this action-packed adventure, coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One on Oct. 13, 2020.

Travel to monumental locations like Cobra Headquarters and the U.S.S. Flagg through an original story inspired by 80s-style comics. Take on 18 campaign missions featuring iconic vehicles and boss battles in single-player or local split-screen co-op.

G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout features 12 playable characters, including Duke, Snake Eyes, Cobra Commander, Destro, Roadblock, Storm Shadow and more. Each soldier has their own unique powers and can be customized with a variety of weapons and skins. There’s also multiplayer with modes such as Capture the Flag, Assault and King of the Hill.

G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout is published by GameMill Entertainment. For more information, visit https://gijoeblackout.com.

Now to be honest, looking at what I've seen so far, even though the Publisher doesn't have the greatest pedigree, I think the game looks kind of decent. Like I actually want to play this now. It has team-based multiplayer, and the designs look good. Now, based on the trailer, would I pay $65 for this? Probably not, but I'd pay $30 or at the very least try it out to determine if I would.

I'll probably get it no matter what because of the brand and it's a G.I. Joe game but I won't be getting it at launch or any time for the rest of the year unless it goes on sale for a digital black friday

Probably a good strategy. I just hope gameplay is fun and the controls are decent. Anthem just really ticked me off how such a major big budget AAA game release could be such broken garbage.

Somewhat curious how multiplayer will shake out.

I'm intrigued by the multiplayer aspect. Like I'm glad they will have one, but will they make it fun and playable enough?

Playing as characters such as Cobra Commander, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow could/should be badass, cool and fun!

I have zero interest in the multiplayer but the story mode has my attention. But I will wait until it is at a cost I find reasonable. That did not look like $60+ to me.

Well, it is a $40 game in the US, it looks like.

I'm skeptical of its chances, but I would appreciate a good G.I. Joe game. Even if it's not a AAA title.

I was watching Fwoosh on Youtube and it seems there's gonna be figures for this too.

Well the game looks like it's using the same designs as the Classified series, which it appears Hasbro is using as like a uniformed design set right now.

But do you mean there will be some unique characters and skins for the game that might get their own figures? IE, there's an image from the game that looks like Sci-Fi and also an arctic skin for Scarlett.

I hope the game will have a lot of skins you can unlock.

Yeah. I might have been a bit confused. I don't follow the toys closely. The guy on Fwoosh just speculates whichever cane first, the toys or the game design.

Well, they probably started designing both around the same time, and my theory is they are having their products take on similar looks to build off of one another.

Kind of like, we're going to revamp GI Joe for 2020 and push this new design set for the toys, a new console game, new website, etc.

Definitely has skins. There is a digital deluxe with classic Duke and Cobra Commander skins, along gold and chrome weapons. The reviews should start coming out now.
