The article says 2070. We'll have long since dried those ME oil beds by then. So we won't care much about that area if there's no oil. :o

And who still thinks climate change isn't happening?

Why is "if it's real" part of the thread title?

Because the temperature of the earth has gone from rather warm to the ice age long before man was putting excess gases into the atmosphere.

Global warming by human hands might only be a tiny reason why the earth is getting warmer. Other factors such as Solar activity which can go up or down might be the real culprit.

But back to the point. Resources are getting scarce, and overpopulation in some areas is a problem. Intense heat in the future to the point where people can't tolerate it will in my opinion create future wars to control the lands where farming, water, and like are more plentifull.

But it's a reason and a cause. I think most people understand that the Earth's climate is cyclical. What people mean when they talk about climate change is that human activity has accelerated it.

Areas around the equator could become unlivable. Coasts will also be redrawn. The problem is that billions of people live on coasts. They will all need to move.

We have the power to slow this inevitable change down. Why wouldn't we want to try? So some companies (ahem, Exxon) can continue making record profits at the expense of the future of mankind?

Don't forget about the people that live in Island nations/states. Those are the places that are going to get screwed the hardest.

The Philippines, the United Kingdom & Northern Ireland, Ireland, Hawaii, New Zealand, Japan ect........
